Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the Lake District.
Just for myself but intend to go for a few days in a couple of months. Not 'suit and tie' posh but would like a bit of luxury.

I've just moved back up to the lakes, in Nether Wasdale, hotel called Strands inn, it's a micro brewery too so all their own ales on tap, excellent food and very remote (4 miles to nearest shop). The best bit though is the walk to Wastwater (voted best view in Britain). It is stunning with views of Scafell pike and the screes. You can always drive Hardknott pass over to Coniston, ambleside and Windermere too.

Sorry for the lack of reply - forgot I posted this!
Thank you for all the suggestions. I will check them out and see which one ticks the box.

The drunken duck inn, lovely hotel with a great micro brewery and pub with amazing food attached and the punchbowl inn very similar minus the brewery!

+1 Great little pub, The Screes Inn isn't too bad either. Stayed at the campsite a few times too.

I didn't like the screes choice of draught. Ales are good but the only lager on tap is Carlsberg :(

The quiz on a sunday night is great though.

The strands' owners are so friendly though, when i came here for my interview, i walked in and all the locals were in and they all greeted me as if i were a local, i felt instantly part of it.

Thread revival but thought I'd stick this in here anyone know a good hotel in Windermere?

Only going to be in the Lake district for few days and travelling up from London on the train so restricted. Are there some good spots to walk to I love my photography so picturesque spots would be great. Also looking at doing the big mountain goat tour looks well respected and awesome on TripAdvisor.

Do you want a literal Hotel or do you just want good accommodation?

A relative of mine recently used the following and has been raving about it:

Lovely place with good room rates, I've been looking into booking a trip myself. It's an adults only venue mind you, so if you're planning on taking the kids it wont be for you.

Looks nice but only one room left on my dates any decent accomodation is fine.

I will no doubt find some on booking.com I've briefly looked just wondered if any recommendations.

The Swan hotel at Newby Bridge.

The Swan hotel is great. Walking distance to the ferry that you can catch up to Bowness and/or Ambleside as well. The aquarium at Lakeside near the Swan is pretty good as well. Can also catch the steam train from Lakeside to the motor museum which is worth a go.

With the popularity of staycations at the moment asking for a specific recommendation could be futile. Just jump on booking.com and sort by review score. That strategy has never let when down when selecting a hotel.

Can't remember the name of the place we stayed but it was right near the lake past a chippy, It was one of two cottages and very roomy inside. Was cheap also
