Our line truely and utterly sucks.

We're supposed to be on the 24mb Be connection, and I'm running that test to find out we're getting about 1.3mb/s.

What else should I find out about my line?

That's about 12megs so not bad m8

Yeah 16Mb like you. The BT exchange is at the bottom of my street, maybe thats why?

Yep I guess thats it. I am close to the exchange, within 1/2 a mile but its not at the bottom of my street.

NTL was plenty quick enough for me and this is quicker so it will do me well and plus I have a much better selection of TV channels and am saving £25 per month, thats £300 per year, so thanks to SKY. :)

Here is my 4MB ntl line, this is done from my pc which is upstairs connected via wireless-G

And here's my dads machine downstairs connected via CAT5:

My 7yr old bro is playing nintendo on his PC so won't let me test from there :( Quite happy with my WiFi I'd say!

Gibbo im glad you posted this its made me rethink my reasons to stay with Virgin which im not sure why i even bothered with

That is 10mbit cable in East london at peak time,,, that is a good result trust me. Its closer to 4 usually. and that alone is costing me 28 quid....

Dont you have to pay for a BT line rental ??? another £12 approx on top of that

Cable uses proxy servers crappy DNS ones that take so long to flipping do anything (at least at peak times)

Did sky give you a Wireless router you say??? did it have an ethernet port on it? I really dont want to use a wireless one.

thanks.
