Ive been using a DAS Keyboard for some time now for typing its probably the best keyboard out there but its also pretty pricey.

Looks awesome fairplay. Too expensive for me but I like the look of the model S.

I have had both of these (Blackwidow Ultimate) mech is much better for typing and you can get silent key switches but yes they are more expensive.
The Lycosa, I really liked a lot. It looks nice, it does type very well, low profile keys. Didn't have any of the problems that were associated with the first batch. I still have it and use it on my other PC.

I find that both work well together. I have the G19 for games and K800 for typing
Any Cherry board - personally prefer cherry brown - i.e. Filco Cherry brown
Typing this on my new Realforce (in sig)
Both great boards but from my experience the variable weighing on the Realforce is King (i.e my pinky's have to do less work) [obviously only an issue if you touch type]

How do you find the g19 for gaming? is it really that much better than a generic typing keyboard?
I ask as I used to have an old saitek eclipse 2, which was alright. However, after starting uni I spent more time writing and programming/designing with my mouse and keyboard and hardly any gaming so I went down the more comfort oriented typing approach.
With Uni over and a job under my belt, I leave all the programming/designing and writing for work and usually play / browse / fiddle with my home pc now. So I was wondering if a change would bring me some benefit or not, especially as my Keyboard now has a key missing and my Microsoft x8 keeps eating the batteries and never charging them. Hmm..
Get work to buy you a proper keyboard
- a nice filco with cherry brown will do or you could be really cheeky and ask for a Realforce 
Didn't work for me though, taking my Filco into work sometimes, my neighbor at work doesn't like the ping my filco makes
