Hi there,

is there any dedicated microphones at a budget level that are more on the studio level in terms of performance.

Really don't have a clue whats best to get, analogue? Digital via USB etc?

Would be used mainly for voice chat, in the future possibly live streams.

Thanks for the advice, say if I were to pay a bit more, would I notice a good difference in audio fidelity or would I have to pay a large amount more? Say.. on a bang to buck ratio?

It would depend a lot on what kind of quality the voicecoms and streams were configured for!

I think it also depends what/how you are recording with/into.
Are you looking at a USB mic to record into your PC. Are you recording straight into a good soundcard or motherboard onboard?
I'd possibly say a USB mic with it's own mic amp is the easyist

It will be for voice chat (steam, mumble etc.) But I want something to hold down quality. The microphones that use USB seem plausible due to having the port on my U3011 where i will most likely place the microphone anyhow.

Well most mics come with a cable so you can plug them in and run them to where you want them (on the desk or clipped to your collar etc)

a lot of voicecoms applications used for games tend to not be the best quality. Mumble is what I use mostly these days and whilst the quality is pretty nice I'm not sure how much of that quality carries across although I get told the mic on my MMX 300 sounds very nice though!

If quality is important and you have enough money then just buy something decent! At least that way you don't have any doubts lol

As for what mics, I'm a bit of a Beyerdynamic fanboy these days and they're supposed to have some very good mics. I have tried any personally so can't really say which I'd recommend.
