Having caught a brief bit of Film 2010 showing Steve McQueen and Le Mans, and hearing the Senna film had its premier last weekend, I have started looking for good motoring films.

Ive seen Grand Prix, but it was years ago, so I need to dig that out.
Ive never seen Le Mans, so definitely getting a copy of that.
I like Days of Thunder, although its classification as a 'good' motoring film are dubious :)
Ive also seen a few Documentary style films, including Dust to Glory, which is epic, and Love the Beast, which is brilliant.

What are your favourite motoring films?

Rendezvous.

Yes it was filmed using a 450SEL 6.9 but so what?
It was probably the only way of getting it done without a gyroscope.
Epic piece of cinema considering it was all done in one take.

Two Lane Blacktop
Gone in 60 seconds (both versions)
Death Race
Death Proof
The Italian Job
The Fast Lady

Im starting to notice that all these films are from the 70's...

Average age of OcUK posters, or just a phase in cinema history when motoring films weren't ****?

Taxi (1 is pretty good, 2 is okay, 3 i didn't finish watching and 4 i havn't bothered with)

Ronin has some good scenes but i wouldn't really call it a motoring film

The 4th fast and furious is actually not too bad, they ditched the silly 'vtec kicked in yo' for this one and so its probably on par with a lot of others metioned already

Not really watched the transporter series myself, but what i have seen was pretty good.

Also, if you want to watch something thats a bit longer, Initial D is pretty epic, the first series the animation is a bit cheap but they up the budget as they go. Mostly about kids drifting, but they make fun of posers and all the things we hate about the drift scene.

In a similar vein is Wangan Midnight... that show will make you want to own a 964 or a 240z! More about turning motorways into very high speed tracks for illegal racing. I even learnt a bit about tuning from this one.

For the love of god avoid Driven, Stallone at his wooden worst....

You know how some films are so bad they've gone full circle and are laughably good? Well Driven's worse than that, it's out the far side of bad, all the way back through good and has landed slap bang back in truly horrific.
