Currently have 250gb Seagate.. witth everything running off it !

i would preffer a smaller HDD 80-160gb to run OS and Games from and use the 250gb for other general apps and music. (Going to get network drive for films :p to be shared. )

anyone recommend a good HDD runs at gud speed, as its easily the slowest item in my PC at the minute.

thanks.

for £45 the F3 500 GB will be ideal, its the fastest HDD out there without going into veloraptor or SSD teritory

because ive yet to personally see a seagate achieve the advertised seek times?

Not that ive had many, just that every samsung I have bought has been wicked

The F3 is worse... 13ms minimum. Usually over 16ms.

that sucks, personally havent looked at drives sincce the F1 first came out and i got them. Just assumed the F3 would be the next step up. Partly why i havent been suggesting drives to people recently :)

The drive itself is faster, it's just the access times are too high for you to make use of that. The 7200.12 is a fast drive too, with lower access times, lower power consumption and probably better reliability.

So the better all round drive is the F1 over the F3?

I recently vowed not to buy another Seagate as they're too unreliable. My 7200.11 just died AGAIN. I know I'm not alone in this.
