So I am trying to find the best deal on the Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.4 dsg (Auto) with the following options -

Front parking sensors,
Sunset privacy glass,
Simply clever pack for variable boot floor - Octavia,
Metallic paint,
Crew protection assist and rear side airbags,
Keyless entry and keyless start,
Sports suspension

Cash price for this car is £22k
However on a PCP it is £23200

Terms are on £1500 deposit, 35months at £339 and 8000 per year.
The GMFV is £9800

Do you think this is a good deal?

Are you 100% after a skoda octavia?

Only reason I ask is I've just bought a high-spec SEAT Toledo which is essentially the same as a Skoda Rapid and come to around the same price.

Was offered 0% finance and £2k discount, with a £1000 deposit I've got it for £208 per month also doing 8000 miles.

I'm thinking of adding front parking sensors which brings it to £222.

It doesn't have keyless entry/start, but it does have pretty much everything else you're after.

The skoda dealer offered me a rapid spaceback for almost the exact same money.

They did originally offer me a rapid and fairly sure it was less than that. One thing to bare in mind is that if you're thinking of changing to a new car after two years anyway when you get offered you might be better extending the policy, as I believe they offer upto 49 months on the octavia which brings the monthly cost down.

If they haven't offered you 0% interest, you'd end up paying more obviously, but if you change after 18-24 months anyway for a new model you'll likely end up saving.

thanks for the response.

I am after a bigger boot/rear due to having 2 kids and petrol/fuel economy (mainly short city driving), hence the Octavia as from the research performed it seemed to tick all the boxes without paying over the odds.

Is the seat a suitable alternative?

I don't have my Toledo yet as i'm still waiting for delivery, but I chose it over the other options because it offered the best space and features for the price.

It has a huge boot, fair amount of room in the rear, navigation, half-leather seats, cruise control, front/rear electric windows, climate control, parking sensors etc etc.

I opted for the 1.2tsi petrol because I'll be doing mainly short journeys, and it supposedly averages about 55mpg. The diesel varient has the same power and speed figures although more torque and returns about 70mpg.

As I said the Toledo is going to cost me about £208 a month on 3 year PCP with 0% finance, the diesel version was £242 iirc. That's based on a 1k deposit, so would be cheaper for you.

Seat also offered me free servicing for 3 years, free breakdown cover with 24/7 courtesy car insured and paid for by Seat, and threw in a couple of little extras.

Lots of things that appear to be optional only on the Skodas are standard on the Toledo... perhaps because it's not a very known car and they're trying to shift some. £2k discount at the moment as well.

Depends if you want to pay £140ish per month more for that car (the Elegance) over the other one (Scout) and have an 8k mile contract not 10k.

On Skoda's website the Scout is from £25,530. The TDI version is from £28,205.

Depends if you need the extra power from the diesel, (I assume better mpgz) and the 4x4 bit.

No brainer for a family hack, hardly going to be taking either to Nurburgring?

The problem with the scout is that it is in Diesel and its a PCH rather than a PCP.
From my understanding if I was to purchase a diesel I would need to drive it a certain amount of miles per run for it to be efficient, cost effective and problem free?
We plan to use it 3-4 days a week doing no more than 30-40miles, so hence why we have opted for the petrol and been advised.

3-4 days at 30-40 miles per day? So 4680-8320 miles per year?

Just want to make sure I interpreted your information correctly.

I can't see too much of an issue with leasing a diesel on them miles - you'll be handing it back after two years and will get any problems fixed; it'll be the guy that buys it next that'll have to deal with the issues (if any).

Obviously if you want the option to buy the car at the end, then this deal isn't appropriate.

It wouldn't be my first choice for doing the mileage in, but as above it also wont be your problem if you are never going to own it or run it out of warranty

Apologies, What I meant was 30-40 miles per week (7 miles per day) for work and maybe additional 30miles a month as a buffer, so around 70 miles a month. I also will make a few holidays in the year, so total mileage a year should be around 7000-8000.

The deal above is also on the standard scout and not automatic.
I have no choice but to get an auto due to the misses has an auto license...
