I RMA'd an FX8350 retail through the good services of OCUK to AMD. The good thing was that It was purchased it on 23 Oct 2012. I RMA'd it two weeks before the third anniversary as 'not booting at standard clocks'. The process was completed within three weeks by AMD.

It shows that OCUK stand behind their RMA process to the end and the statement that whatever you do to a CPU, no questions will be asked is proven. I would not purchase a CPU from any other etailer following this. I am also very pleased with AMD.

Well done to all concerned.

Heh, good to hear :)

Although I think a lot of people would have taken the excuse to upgrade the system after 3 years! If only there was a good reason to get rid of my 2500k... x)

Just another reason ill be buying from OCUK when i do my next pc build, done my first a few years ago, tried RMA'ing my R9 290 because of it overheating constantly. ****** (im bad mouthing them its fine) basically said nope, its fine and shipped it straight back out. I asked what conditions the room was in and where the GPU was. Air conditioned warehouse, always really cold, on a test bench. Really?!
But hey ho, got it back and applied some new thermal paste and hey presto ran a bit cooler so it didint crash. Will never buy from them again. OCUK FTW!!!

I got very lucky once ;), I bought a dead 3770k off ebay for next to nothing. Sent it to Intel with free postage and had a brand new one back in about a week lol.

OCUK have a great RMA service and it's nice to know AMD live up to their warranty nearly 3 years down the line without any hassle. Very unlucky for a cpu to go bad.

Ooooo thats cheeky, I like it!

good to hear . its nice to no that the back up is there when you need it and can be sorted with little and no fuss.

it was covered for 3 years so nice that you got it sorted. shows that overclocking does damage your cpus.

wasn't your cpu overclocked to 5ghz ?

so just under 3 years till over.

Yeah, It was done as a favour to a fellow OCUKer to whom I sold it after a couple of years.

While I believe that I kept it within the thermal and voltage limits, it is not without the bounds of possibility that I contributed to its early demise.

As an early adopter, I explored its potential fully :)

Good news on the outcome, but unusual that it stopped working as should.
CPUs are usually the most reliable component IMHO (as long as not abused of course), but there will always be a few.
