Good RTS for beginner?

For beginners?

I would say start from the classics, C&C, Starcraft and Warcraft.
You'll also be missing out on some gaming history if you don't play them and finish them

Good storyline, you'll set yourself up for the next line of games and want more!

if you start at the modern ones ull probably never go and play the classics and will miss the magic of them.

Indeed. Too many people say "Doom sucks", and even "Half Life 1 Sucks". They're missing out after being bought up in this shallow "OMG LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS" gaming generation

The irony is that in some ways, Doom was an OMG LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS title

I'm not sure, I tried to get into Homeworld 2 about a year ago but wasn't able to. I wouldn't say I'm 'pr0' by any means but I'm not a newcomer to RTS either and I found it wasn't as easy to pick-up-and-play as some other titles.

I'd agree with that, except I really didn't enjoy HL all that much when I got it (in 2001). I loved CS, but HL really didn't do it for me.

Something has to be said for Doom though, that is a game I still play today

Lol yeah I bet it was..! I was playing it a few years after release though, so I think it wasn't when I was playing it. I think the first "OMG Graphics" game I played was Duke3D... that game was great

Wouldn't recommend Homeworld 2. Finished Cataclysm and got a fair way through 1, but I couldn't get past the 3rd mission on H2.

Make sure you've installed the patch, so you're running v1.1 of HW2. This tweaks some of the mission difficulty levels.
