Good time to upgrade? £1200 budget

How about this then.

So much for my budget.

1 problem is that the motherboard is on pre-order. I asked customer service and they don't have an ETA on when they will get stock.
Is that board worth waiting for, or is there a decent alternative?

swap the Strix 64 for Gigabte Windforce 64. as mentioned before VRMs aren't cooled correctly and it overheats, Gigabyte doesn't .

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £449.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

one of the few boards that isn't on Pre-order

not sure if @GIGA-Man is able to give a shout on when stock is inbound ( advantage, Gigabyte has reps on here )

Thanks, forgot to change the graphics card.

So hopefully final basket looks like this.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,567.76 (includes shipping: £15.90)

I've asked at OC and they don't know when they'll get more motherboards, so push come to a shove I'll just have to order it elsewhere.
Would be cool to get it ordered this week.

Auto overclock???
So many terms I'm unfamilar with mentioned in this thread, sure I'm gonna have a few questions once it's all together.

Also I don't think any of that kit comes with any thermal paste, so was gonna go with some Arctic MX-4.

Might be worth asking if the X370 board ships with an up to date bios just so it will work from the off. Unless it is really old stock then it should be fine but I would ask the question.

I asked and they said they had a mixed stock, so no guarantees.
So if the BIOS isn't current enough, I'm going to end up with a dead machine?
How old is this X370 board? Gotta admit I'm a bit worried about it.

Gigabyte can flash newly bought older boards free of charge - as they are UK based .

like most boards bar Z370 To Z390 ... older gen flagship will be better then new budget boards - £250 aorus x370 vs b450 £80 etc . only intels last two Z boards were budget Z390 will beat Z370 in terms for power delivery but not features like sound, lighting etc

x370 7

x470 ultra - note that he's got the Aorus 5 wrong, both have different designs

If they are being so useless that they cannot be bothered to look for a board with the correct BIOS buy a B450/X470 board from somewhere else.

I've been thinking about this all day.
Watched those videos and the guy didn't seem that happy with the x470, so do I take a punt and hope that the x370 works off the bat...

I am quite litterally in for a penny, in for a pound at the moment.
Would going for the Asus Rog Strix x470-F be a viable option?

Yes the Strix is a good board if you want to go with that.
