Currently I have a dell dimension E521 which I got for free and upgraded the gpu and psu.

Specs

amd x2 5000+
2gb ddr2 ram
512mb Hd5670
Corsair cx 400

I'm going to take the plunge and build my own system.

Here's what I plan to build after researching components for ages.

intel i5 2500k
OCZ (2x2gb) 1600mhz ddr3
Gelid Tranquillo cpu cooler
HD 6850
Antec 100 case
XFX 650w pro psu (or a OCZ StealthXStream2 600w which would save me a few quid)
Asus P8P67 B3 revision

I already have win7 64.

Any suggestions on things that I should change?

And if I was to sell my old pc would I be better to sell my 5670 and cx400 individually and sell the dell as a whole pc with the stock components reinstalled or the sell upgraded dell as a whole?

Any advice would be great,

Thanks.

that is looking really good. the only thing i would make sure is the ram is low voltage enough for a sandybridge motherboard. (1.5V or less)

as far as i know, the OCZ special ops is ok, but the OCZ platinum would be better. (dont know which one you went for)

yepp that looks good, whats your budget? also i would reccomend changed the antec 100 to a 300, personally i prefer that case more, as above change ram to platimum or XMS3 apart from that it all looks good!

I have the OCZ special ops ram

I was lookng at the P8P67 motherboards and noticed theres many different versions.

I know that one is a micro atx motherboard but whats the difference between the LE version, the standard version and the pro version.

To keep costs lower, I think I'll get the le or the standard as I have no need for crossfire or sli.

Another quick question which psu would you prefer out of these two.

Corsair TX 650W or XFX 650w pro psu?

For around £10 more would the XFX be worth it?

not so hot on my power supplies, but i believe the corsair TX series is not highly rated round here. very happy to be proven wrong though.

as for the motherboards, it is very difficult to tell the differences between them without checking all the specifications of each one.

the main difference i found was their ability to do crossfire/SLI properly (or even atall). however, since you said you dont want to, then thats not so much of a problem. i would get the cheapest one that has everything you need on it.

also, if you havent bought it yet, i would suggest going for the OCZ platinum RAM. its on special offer this week so its way cheaper than the special ops
