Came across a driver updater the other day yet it was rubbish, false positives, some 'updates' didn't work at all etc. Today noticed on the ASUS motherboard website there was a LAN and Chipset driver update so downloaded them, just a flash on the screen then nothing. What software is out there that properly detects and installs driver updates, if any ?

Thanks in advance

None. Even the ones on the manufacturer site is usually out of date.

Bare in mind you don't have to try keep all your drivers up to date. The only one I bother doing these days is GPU, even then I only check every couple of months. Chipset as well sometimes. And I usually go directly for the drivers (AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc).

Ccleaner pro is good. The licence has recently been £1 for a years licence. Ran it once and it updated several random drivers and all been good.

Get chipset driver from Intel or AMD

LAN driver from the LAN manufacturer

GPU from Intel/AMD/Nvidia

If you have any gaps in Device Manager, hopefully Windows Update will sweep up the rest. If not, then go into the device in DM and find the hardware ID, Google this and find the device in question. Likely exists on motherboard manufacturer site.
