Good Wine...

One of my current favorites is the 2011 Clos des Verdots merlot.

Its from the Bergerac wine region which is next to Bordeaux but offers far better value for similar wines.

Try some Portuguese wines, they make a damn good red wine for not a lot of money!

Just to report in the two reds I had the weekend before last - the inlaws over so they brought a couple of bottles - both "Grand Vin de Bordeaux" but in france that doesn't mean hyper expensive (probably about 10-20 euros):
* Chateau La Tuiliere 2012 - Cotes de Bourg
* Chateau Tour Bayard 2009 - Montagne Saint Emillion (3 miles from St Emillion)

First was really nice - spritely fruity. The second an awesome heavier bottle. Both were decanted/aired in the wide bottle decanter. The 2009 had noticeable sediment in the bottom of the bottle on pouring into the decanter and needed a decent time to air. The 2012 opened up more after airing.
