Goodbye Firefox!

Funny, all the "bugs" you lot have with Firefox don't exist for me?

I always run the latest version, and just pull a copy of my profile over, to instantly reistate all my bookmarks, extensions (30 at last count), saved passwords etc etc. No crashing, memory hogging, copy/paste issues, etc etc?

It will be a cold day in hell before I ever go back to Internet Explorer.

Would someone please walk me through this procedure? Easy step by step please :)

Latest Version, no problem check for updates.

Pull a copy of my profile over??

Additionally

I've recently gone over to FF from IE and it copied (?) all my favourites, sometimes I have to use IE, is there a way to syncronise favourites and Bookmarks even if I had to do it once a week or so. Obviously at the point of moving over both Favourites and Bookmarks were the same. After just a few weeks of using alternative browsers my favourites and Booksmarks are in a shambles.

I'm looking into switching to Opera, Firefox has been crashing a lot recently which annoys me. Just a couple of questions:
1) Is it possible to have a link/bookmark toolbar like in IE7 and Firefox?
2) Where's that "excellent" skin?
3) Are there extensions for Opera like Firefox's Adblock and Forcastfox?

Has Opera really improved that much? Not so long back it was just just a "we'll render pages our way and sod the rest of you" pile of steaming poo. Buggy as hell and in it's own way rivaling IE6 for lack of standards-compliance.

I'm running Firefox 1.5.0.6 with no plugins, and it's happy as anything. I used to regularly get crashes with 1.0, but don't get any with 1.5.

If you're having that much trouble, uninstall, remove profile (this will remove settings and extensions), reinstall. :)

I will try IE7, but for now it's Firefox for me. As somone who is visually impaired, I can't believe how much I use the text enlargement feature in Firefox, and how much I miss it when going back to IE6. I can actually sit away from the screen and read now. Wohoo. \o/

I think people need to sort their windows installs out if they find Firefox uses a lot of memory... I often browse a lot of trailer sites and have several open downloading trailers to view and don't have any issues at all

Look here:

And I have 1.4GB free ram to use for other stuff..

Just out of interest if you like FF extensions and customisability(sp) but fancy a change you could do worse than give Maxthon a go Clicky Here

Go on, try it - you might like it :D

To get mine up to 120 meg I have to open about 20 tabs with some quite high quality images in them, when i've just got 3-4 tabs it's sitting at about 80meg. But i'm using Beta 2 which for me seems to release the memory better compared to the current release which tends to take it then not give it back.

I only use firefox for the tabbed browsing but want to switch to ie7 as it has the same feature. I installed it but I dont have the menu or icons along the top.!!!

I have tried firefox in the past but didnt like it. To me the look and feel was just wrong.
The same thing was true of ie7 but since Its in vista I am forced to use it at the mo and I can honestly say after a week of usage its grown on me.
I love the tabbed browsing.
I might install firefox again at some point to see if it will grow on me like ie7 has

adblock plus, filterset g and customizegoogle make firefox better than anything!

NO ads at all, gets rid of crappy googleads too

now if opera had customizegoogle then I would use it day in day out !

i have got the infamous "copy/paste" bug in FF, doing my head in, will only copy/paste sometimes

Yeah i had that problem the other day, good to hear that its a familiar problem

1 thing that has already put me off IE7 is the fact that Avast detected spyware/adware/virus (not sure which it was as i just quickly carried on regardless) the minute i hit the IE7 download page

Ill be sticking with Firefox

I dont see what the big fuss was about Firefox, the only two things I liked about it were better security and tabbed browsing.

Last year or so Firefox has gone unstable for me, and had a couple of really annoying bugs

I couldn't agree more.

The only reason i initially switched to FF was for the tabbed browsing. It's back to IE for in the future.

FF has been Mint since ive installed it (last year) add the updates all fine never crashed and its using 30MB. ill use IE7 when i have to get Vista :P
