If I use Google 2-step verification and I use a code to login to my Google account on my phone and chromebook, is it going to ask me to re-login every 30 days (and my emails stop coming through) or will it remember it as a device?

No, you create application specific passwords for those - and they'll only expire if you revoke them.

But I don't have to, I can use the 2 step verification, I was just wondering if this is only valid for 30 days like when I login via my browser?

It depends some Google services say you can mark it as a trusted device and it won't ask every 30-days but perhaps does if some "hidden criteria" are met that makes them decide to ask you.

Why don't you just try it before worrying about every eventuality? And why are you so against using the application specific passwords?

You can always turn it back off if you don't like it.

I'm confused are you setting up an account on your phone or just logging in through the browser? If you're setting up the account to sync your Google apps then you just use an application specific password which does not expire unless you revoke it. If using a browser then you'd have to use the 'Google Authenticator' app to generate a code or use a backup code to log in.

Your phone won't ask you to re-login every 30 days. I don't have a chromebook but my nexus 10 doesn't either.

No. They have changed it from 30 days to permanently.

on a similiar note, for the PayPal 2 step equivalent, where it SMS you the code, one thing which I find really annoying is when you use mobile Paypal, it asks you to put the code into your password, but it has no button to send via SMS!

Anyone know of a workaround, apparent from changing it to request desktop site?
