It’s not so much that they have the data, it’s what they then do with it imo
Maybe its not so much about what they do with it right now as long as we assume its only for targetted adsTargeted ads? I'm curious because people really get worked up over this.

But what COULD be done with it... E.G If you've got an Android phone, gmail, and use chrome on desktop - thats potential access to your locaction, everything you do online, and all your communications
Im not saying that they do it right now - but they have all the parts they need to do it if they choose to.I've heard this before but it sounds a bit tin foil hat tbh.
People said the same thing about the government (USA) spying on all the communications of its citizens and we all know how that turned out.I've heard this before but it sounds a bit tin foil hat tbh.

Send in the SAS to destroy all the data ?lets just say the uk government wanted google to delete all data on uk citizens and never track british net traffic ever again, lets just say google said no, what would happen next?

There have been circumstances where Police in America issued a warrant for peoples data who were simply near a crime scene, it starts out as anonymized data apparently, but they can then request specifics like name, DOB etc.

Which means you might get accused for something you haven't done just because you where browsing on a phone.

Seems like a good use of the data to me if it leads to an arrest. There have been circumstances where Police in America issued a warrant for peoples data who were simply near a crime scene, it starts out as anonymized data apparently, but they can then request specifics like name, DOB etc.

Seems like a very specific and extremely unlikely situation. Then there's the simple fact you are an innocent bystander.
There really must be a reason to track everyone. It's probably government related. They want stats on everyones movements and what they are up to very easily. It's the only motive I can think of.
