I have disabled Web & App activity, so I presume that means Google doesn't save my history of websites against my account. They still see the data when I go to the website, but they don't save it?

The other thing I have heard but cannot verify is that Google scans your photos you load and use that to build data, I don't see any of that in the activity either to disable.

Thanks mate - it looks ever so slightly dodgy though? I like the way DuckDuckGo is designed, believe they also use Google?

Dodgy? lol... Did you scroll down and read it? They've been running since 2006, have a privacy certificate from the EU body overseeing data protection and are registered with the Dutch DPA. Edward Snowden also recommends them. They're definitely not dodgy. :p DDG uses its own in-house search engine mate. I use them also, but for those times you want Google, Startpage is the one.

I would be interested to see a poll based on your opinion on whether you're bothered about your data being collected, and your age.

Sweeping generalisation, but i would actually bet that this is mostly a generational thing and those of an older generation are a bit more sceptical when it comes to collecting data and what it's used for.

It's the opposite. Millennials don't care too much. Gen Z do hence whisper and Snapchat popularity.

Seems like a very specific and extremely unlikely situation. Then there's the simple fact you are an innocent bystander.

mug....

governments never let something like innocence get in the way of locking / torturing someone up.

So I've had all my activity controls enabled, and I'm still alive. I haven't been blackmailed by Google or hacked by Russians who will expose me for visiting OcUK 20 times a day.

@Syla5 this thread may be interesting read.
