Google Calendar not syncing?

I need some help guys. Google Calendar online is not showing any of my phone calendar entries other than public holidays. It's empty. If I scroll back to october 2014 it shows some entries but nowhere near all of them, and then after that, there's no entries right up to today. I don't know what's changed because it always used to automatically sync and show all my phone events online. Gmail seems to be updating my phone contacts though. Is there some setting on my phone I've changed? In 'Calendars' on the phone (SGS2) I've got ticked 'My Calendar', 'My Task', 'Holidays in UK', and ' [email protected]', which is my account.

There isn't a setting other than making sure it's set to sync in settings > accounts > google really.

Have you updated firmware recently? Maybe you were adding new entries to a local or shared calendar on your previous firmware build.

I'm on android 4.1.2. Bog standard firmware. :( When I check google account on my phone, it says it just synced, so it is syncing, but not showing up.

It's not syncing them to your Samsung account is it? My mum had that problem...

I think you might be onto something. Let me just upload some screenshots. Back in a minute.

I haven't accessed my samsung account for years, I forgot the password. So I've just reset it and it shows that it's syncing my account.

But also, in my gmail account on the phone, it's also been syncing, so wtf?

How do I sort this out so that I can once again see all my past and present calendar entries in google calendar online and not be syncing with samsung?

Ok guys, I'm starting to get somewhere. I read this on androidcentral,

"When creating an appointment, you just need to tell the phone you want the even stored as a Google calendar event, rather than a "My Calendar" event. Once you've done that once, the phone should default to Google for all subsequent events, unless you change it manually again."

I tried it by clicking the + on my phone to create a test event, and changed the Calendar at the top from My Calendar to my gmail address. The entry showed up online. When I go to create any further entries, it has now defaulted to my gmail calendar address. So far so good, it means I now know how to make sure all further entries show up.

By editing older entries from my calendar to [email protected], they also show up. Thing is, doing that doesn't seem to be making all my older entries default to the gmail address, so to get all of them to show up online, i'd have to manually edit hundreds of old calendar entries.

Can you take a screenshot of an event that's not showing up on Google Calendar? It does seem that some events are on your Samsung account instead of your Google account instead. Doesn't help that both accounts uses the same email :p.

Hi Orcvader. Actually, before I do anything else, I've just completely edited my post above yours. See what you make of that. What I'm wondering now is how I can get all my older entries to show up without manually editing every date.

However, if my stuff is on my samsung account, where do I view them? I know, I'm dumb, :p but I don't know much about the samsung account.

Googled around and seems other Samsung users run into this issue, also found a few threads stating some Samsung phones reenable "My calendar" as default after a reboot.

Try exporting the calendar with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tk.drlue.icalimportexport

And then import it to your Google calendar.

Might be worth trying a different calendar app if the Google one doesn't stay as default though. The official Google calendar app is fine, but Today calendar is worth checking out.

Well, rebooted my phone and it's kept my gmail setting.

I dunno, that app sounds like it might make things a bit confusing for me. Checking my phone entries and online entries, I have all my entries online from 2011 to october 2013. But I've only got phone entries on the actual handset from June 2013 to today.

So what I'd like to try and do is get my phone entries to online, but just from november 2013 to today. I don't want anything from my phone from before june 2013 to go online in case it deletes what's online.

You need to export the Samsung calendar, which is what that app does. You then need to import it to your Google calendar. This will not replace and overwrite any existing events on it. This is the best way of transferring events from one calendar to another.

Ok, I downloaded the app. When I selected samsung calendar to export it said there's 0 events. When I selected 'My Calendar' it said there's 1020 events. So I saved that one. I also selected the google/gmail calendar which said 455 events. I now have succesfully saved two .ics files that I exported and emailed to my laptop. It looks like all my calendar entries are now saved. How do I now import them to the google calendar online?

Message for Orcvader. All sorted! :D

iCal worked a treat and all my calendar entries are now online from 2011 to today. iCal filled all the gaps from november to now. Brilliant! I can't thank you enough. It took me a while to find out that I only had to go to 'import calendar' under 'Other calendars' in Google calendar, and import the .ics file that I'd exported from iCal to my laptop.

The only thing I found after that was duplicate entries appeared everywhere (on the phone, not online). But when I unticked 'My calendar' on the phone and just left the google calendar ticked, the duplicates disappeared.

Glad it's working for you, sorry, forgot to mention how to import calendars but seems you worked it out :p.

Yup, that app only exports and does not clear that calendar, so that was why you saw duplicates. I only have Google Calendar enabled myself to prevent a similar thing from happening.
