Google Calendar stopped syncing

I've noticed quite a lot of random missing entries since the last 3 weeks when I look at my google calendar online, that are still there on my SGS2. I've done some test calendar events just now and it's not syncing. I'm also getting 'Update Samsung Account?' popping up continuously on my phone, even though I've just done the update several times having just changed my samsung account password because I forgot my old one. I was about to remove the samsung account and it warns me that "removing account will delete all messages, contacts, and other data from the device". I'm a bit confused, does the samsung account affect my contacts and calendar events on google? What messages and data would I lose if I remove the samsung account?
How do I get google calendar to start syncing again? :(

Settings/accounts/*account* tap on that and see if calendar sync is on.. If your Google account syncs with their servers for contacts, calendar etc then Samsung one will just do the same thing! Before removing that make sure that Google account has synced properly :)

My google account on the phone is enabled and says last synced 5/12/2013 2.11am. But it's not updating my google calendar. Must be a problem with the samsung account then? But contacts seems to update, I did a test one.

Rebooted the phone, and even shutdown my phone and rebooted, and the 'Update Samsung Account?' continually pops up. I click no, and it continues, it won't go away! And now, even if I click yes to the update, it starts the update and the pop up comes up again and cancels the download. No idea what to do now. HELP! :(

Go to calendar and click settings see the accounts that are connected, tap on the Google account and see if its set to sync :) if Google is backed up ditch the stupid Samsung account if you're not using it :)

In my phones calendar settings, there's 'Calendars', I click on that and there's a bunch of things that can only be ticked or unticked. 'My Calendar' is ticked, 'My Task' is ticked, then under that it shows my google gmail address ticked, uk holidays, contacts birthdays also ticked. If I come out of that, and go to system settings/accounts/ it shows my various accounts, email, google, samsung, and whatsapp. If I click on the google account, it says at the top 'last synced 5/12/2013 2.50am. It has the yellow sync icon next to it. At the bottom of that screen it says 'Sync all'. So is it safe to remove the samsung account, will I lose something I need? And how do I get google to update my calendar online?

edit: I'm wondering if it's the samsung account that is preventing my google calendar being updated? If so, no idea why.

Could be ! But it should be green unless you're on stock Samsung touchwizz which may have changed the colours.. I have 2 accounts that sync with my calendar work and gmail and I've got no problems :) I'm sure its misconfiguration somewhere

I should have said, my Samsung account uses a different email address, my ntlworld.com address, not the gmail address that my calendar uses with google calendar. So I've disabled sync in the Samsung account. Before disabling it, the sync icon was red and a message next to it 'sync error'. As I was saying earlier, it kept asking me to update the account, even though I had downloaded the update. I don't recall ever choosing to sync my calendar events with the samsung account though. Does the Samsung account need to be working for my google account calendar events to transfer from the phone to online?

So since the samsung account uses a different email address, and it's always been that way, how would it affect what's happening with my google account and calendar and why is my calendar not updating online? My google account is telling me it synced a few minutes ago, but new calendar events are still not showing up online. This is worrying and confusing! :(

When I type my new password into the Samsung account on my phone then click 'Done', it says 'In Progress'.. 'Signing In..' then always says 'Unfortunately, Samsung account has stopped' and Processing failed. So I can't even log in. Do I need to remove the samsung account and reinstall it? And should I do a backup first with 'My Backup' which I have installed?

why are you using the samsung account in the first place? it's pointless unless you want to access the samsung apps that require it :) check google account through web to see if your contacts are there and then ditch samsung account competely! remove it, clear caches in the app settings etc

Yeah, my phone contacts are there online in gmail. But not all of my calendar events, which is where the problem is.

Yeah, I don't actually want the samsung account but it's been there since I first got the phone. My worry is, if I ditch it, is it going to remove my contacts, calendar events, text messages, photos, and everything else on the phone? I don't actually know what it controls but on pressing the 'Remove Samsung account' button, it says "removing this account will delete all messages, contacts, and other data from the device. Continue?"

backup everything and do it :) if contacts are in gmain then you're good to go.. you can backup the rest..

Well first things first, I don't want to miss out on saying thanks to you grudas for trying to help me here, and your patience is much appreciated. :)

Looking at the app I have installed 'My Backup Pro', under 'data', it does list 'Calendar', so I guess it's safe to say it'll actually save all my phone's calendar events. Don't understand though why contacts seem to update (I created a test contact with fake name and phone number) and it appeared online in gmail/contacts, but my calendar events aren't updating. Both google calendar and gmail use the same google account email address. Anyway, I'll see how it goes, I'll go ahead and do the backup first.

no problems man :) other thing I'd try before removing samsung account and after backing everything up is to detach the google account from your phone, disable/remove the samsung account and reconnect back to google.

this will remove google and it's bits from you phone but if and they should(double check the settings in settings/accounts) are synced it will automatically redownload as soon as you sign in back to google.
