So I started using Google Docs a few weeks ago. I used it for this one thing and then kind of forgot about it. Anyway, now I need to access the file I created in it and I can't!

It's in my 'Google Drive' folder and when I click on it, it tries to open in a browser but it keeps telling me I don't have permission to access it. I've tried signing in with every email account I have and none of them will give me access. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get access to this file and I really need it!

Can anyone who uses Google Docs help? I'm pulling my hair out over here!

Have you tried installing the Google Drive client to see if it'll download the document?

You mean the desktop Google Drive? If so, I do have it installed, but when I sign in it tries to go through the whole setup process, asking me to select a location for my Google Drive folder, etc, even though I've already got one set up (which is where the file I'm trying to access is located).

At the moment if you have a Google Drive Folder then re-install Google Drive it wants a new blank folder, not a clue why its an annoying bug. But if you go through the setup and put it in a new folder it may download the file you are trying to open.

Nah... tried it and it didn't work :(

Whatever email I use to sign in, if I look at my folders in Google Drive's webpages, the file I need isn't there. It's only in my Google Drive folder on my PC.

If it's in the folder can't you just open in from within Windows? If you want to edit it on google docs log into the google drive in the browser and upload the file from your Google Drive Folder

I can't do that because when I try to open it it wants to open in a browser, and the browser just says something like 'you don't have the necessary permissions to view this file, ask owner for permission?' Then when I click 'ask for permission' nothing happens. I don't get an email to any of my accounts.

If I login via the browser and try to upload the file into the browser from the Drive on my PC, then it uploads, but I can't view it (it says no preview available) and if I double click it it just takes me to that same 'you don't have permission' screen.

I've just been looking on the Google Product forums. Seems a few have the issue with no answer to help them. It makes me think twice about using Google Docs to create uni assignments. Sorry I can't help further.

Yeah, I doubt I'll get any help with this. What I think's happened is I've signed up to GD with one email account (not my main), installed it, thought 'this is alright', decided to re-install using my main email account, and that's led to Google deleting from the cloud all the stuff in my original account.
