Ever seen the National geographic snaps in Africa, if you zoom in on some parts near the Savannah grasslands you can see elephants and wilderbeast and the like, couldn't be bothered searching now, but my 'strange things in google earth' app on igoogle is handy.

St Helens was spewing dust a few years back and you could bring a webcam up on that, probably still can

Also I saw a add on called tileproxy that streams google earth to Flight Sim X, combined with very detailed height maps the graphics were literally photo realistic
