Google Lights OUT

Well that was a shock to the system.

Google on a black background.

EWWWWW burn it with fire, destroy it, get rid of it!!! :(

Their lights are out, but the servers are on. Turn the servers off to save more power! :p

any way to make this permanent?

Get this plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108

In that you can enter custom CSS code. There might be some pre-set ones for black backgrounds etc., not sure. Have a play around with it :)

Is this why all Google addresses (Firefox, .com, .co.uk etc) gave me a weird blank page showing a Squid error earlier this evening? All of them, I hasten to add. Maybe it was just OpenDNS messing up? I don't run squid myself, btw.

I actually prefer it that way. My eyes like it more for some reason :)

I thought it had be hacked before I saw the link

And so they should - pupils won't go all bleurgh and close up due to excessive brightness. There's good reason for white on black being better. :)

May well have a play with that CSS thingy. :)

As to the sentiment, we had a whole day of this last month. End result? We used more energy on an energy saving day than we did on a normal day. :D

Glad i wasnt the only one who thought.. EH!!

Just put this 24" screen in and the next morning google to that to me lol... sods!

Send it back.
If it's not already been said. I hate it, Who thinks it will be a good idea to change things
I am old, I hate Change, Leave me Alone

Save energy == Save money (for you and the country).
Ahahahahahha hahahahahahah ahahahhahaha hhahahahahhahaha.

Taxes will rise. Taxes will always rise. Bills are going the same way as taxes. Income doesn't rise as much. So....... I see no saving money whatsoever.

In a dark room (like mine now, because I haven't turned on a light or opened my curtains yet...) that is much easier on the eyes. I normally brace myself for theu usual google light blast but was pleasantly surprised today!

That's why in lectures, the powerpoint presentations should have light text on a dark background so that it doesn't strain everyones eyes so much.

As for the sentiment behind it - utter tosh.
Completely agree with you.

Now, if they had said that they were turning off all 3 gazillion of their servers for an hour and that Google would be unavailable, I'd be slightly more inclined to believe that it wasn't just a bandwagon-jumping exercise.
