This is doing my head in!
Is anyone using Google's SMTP server to send email from outlook? I just cannot get it to work. Everything else works fine, but the moment I try using THEIR SMTP server I just cannot get it to send
E-mail address: [email protected]
User Name: [email protected]
Password: *password*
Log on using Secure Password Authentication: disabled
Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.googlemail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.googlemail.com
Outgoing Server tab
My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: enabled
Use same settings as my incoming mail server: enabled
Advanced tab
Incoming server (POP3): 995
This server requires a secure connection (SSL): enabled
Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
This server requires a secure connection (SSL): enabled
Server Timeouts: 1 minute
Leave a copy of messages on the server: disabled
If I try "test account settings" I get Outlook telling me "Send test e-mail message: Unable to send test Message. Please verify the E-mail Address field."
I've even tried this on two different machines on two different service providers. Argh!
