Google map colour change

I've just noticed this, motorways and A roads are now both a muddy shade of brown/yellow? :confused:

I'm partially colour blind so I'm really struggling to see where one road ends and another starts :( :( :(

I gather this is supposed to be some jobsworths effort at making the world maps the same, but as we invented coherent map making in the first place, they should be copying us, not changing anything to suit bongo-bongo land :rolleyes:



please biatch about it:

* Visit Google Maps
* Find a motorway, primary route, A-road or B-road
* Click "Report a problem" in the bottom right corner
* Click on your chosen road
* Select "Other map problems" and press Continue
* Enter a problem description (explain the correct colour for that type of road, and why it helps)
* Click "Submit". (Ensure that "Email me when the problem is resolved" is selected)

I've got to agree, the minor roads are quite hard to see against the white background. Its pretty annoying. If the minor roads were outlined in black or a shade darker, then it would be much better.

Take this for example:

Its really hard to see the minor roads.

I hadn't even noticed that as I was using the green terrain background, but yes those smaller roads are nigh on invisible to me too :(

I'm a bit stuck with google maps as I use it on the iPad (the traffic build up is quite handy sometimes)

Yeah, I normally use the satellite, but sometimes I'm a bit of a purist and just want the maps!

Actually, just seen the "Terrain" option, that is SOOOOO much better! Roads clearly visible.
 
Tried Apple maps? It may not be the right road, but at least the colour scheme is readable trolololol
 
The biggest gripe I had with the blue motorway roads were that it was near on impossible to see the satnav driving route on the roads sometimes at big junction intersections

I believe this is a conscious design decision - aiming to present you with what is most relevant, rather than everything. If you select a location on a minor road or zoom in further, the minor roads become more prominent.
