Hi guys,

My Mum has just changed networks (Sky to Lebara), but kept her number - successfully ported it to her new network.

Now though, in Google Messages, within Chat features, her Status shows as Connected but is displaying and sending from the temporary number from her new network. Disabled, all messages sent appear to be from her current, the right, number...

Tried disabling/enabling, clearing caches etc., no joy. Any ideas?

Thanks.

It's a pain in the arse, turn it off wait a couple of weeks then turn it back on.

I had the same issue when I transferred my number and nothing worked other than just waiting.
Thanks mate! Cool, so I'll just get her to leave it off and wait. There are loads of posts of Reddit too, regarding this issue, so we're not alone.

I had a similar issue. Told them to send a new SIM and it sorted it out.
Ha, yeah, Mum's issue still isn't sorted yet... Checked yesterday. I'm convinced it's a Google/Messages app issue.

Might be worth trying a new sim though? - were you with Lebara as well?

No it was O2 transfering to three.

Calls was my old number but text messages was the new number. When I rang them, they was coming out with all sorts of rubbish. Even telling me it's the phone manufacturers fault. Told me to wipe my phone the lot.

In the end I just send send me a new SIM and see if that works, all sorted now.

Sorted...

So, just had another go and success!

1. Force stopped the app, cleared the cache. Stopped and cleared the Carrier Services app (from Reddit).

2. Phone in Airplane Mode, switched off and removed the sim.

3. Turned the phone back on without sim and disabled Airplane Mode. Reinserted the sim.

4. Went into Messages and accepted all the terms etc. Checked Chat features and it was verified with the correct number.

Hopefully this helps someone else because it was doing my head in :D
