Your picture shows perfectly what i mean though.
You can see the congestion on the route you're not taking - first road on your left has heavy congestion for example. But for the route you are taking... you just have a purple line, so you've no idea whether there is congestion on your route or not??
Not answering the question at all but another vote for TomTom Go, everything already has been stated above but the brilliant traffic avoidance makes it well worth the £15 a year. It's never let me down yet and it's saved me a ton of time, even if it only saves me an hour it's practically paid for itself already.
