Google Nexus pricing?

I'm looking to get an unlocked Nexus when they're 'officially' released in the UK. Prices are listed at ~£600 at the moment which is ridiculous, especially considering the rate at which phones are ageing at the moment. Are these just guestimates by the retailers, or is it really going to be that expensive over here?

ignore play.com

they charge that much for the same iphone that apple charge 450 for

it will be similar priced to importing the US version because otherwise no one would buy one

id expect it to be on pretty fairly priced contracts for free too

I think the HTC Bravo is basically a Nexus that's suitable for public use. No idea when it's due or what it'll cost though.

I'm not after a contract as I already have a company phone, so I'll be putting the sim from that in.

There are other websites that have listed ridiculous £600+ prices as well.

I guess I could always import it, but that would take it over £400 which is still pretty damn expensive.

I know some of you have purchased the nexus one directly from google US, how much is it in total including import tax etc? thinking about getting one if its less then £400

Bought my Nexus one from the US 3 weeks ago, and i got my credit card bill last week and it cost £353 (wasn't exactly sure on exchange rate as bill on net was in dollars) but i have yet to receive the VAT / Import Duty bill from DHL. I am hoping i've got away with but i'm not holding my breathe :D.

I believe the DHL bill is in the region of £60, which just takes you over the £400 mark. But it is a hell of a lot cheaper than the websites that are listing it for £600.

I did not buy the mains charger though which will add another £20 ish. If you have a usb mains plug which you can plug your own usb cable in (ala Touch HD / ipod chargers etc) you can use the supplied micro usb cable with one of those mains charger, or of course just plug it into your PC and charge it that way.

I am still awaiting the release of a decent dock to sync / charge off my PC.

I was totally in the same boat as the OP - wondering whether to wait for the UK release and wondering how much it would cost etc. I capitulated last night though and ordered from Google.

I have paid so far:

Phone $529
AC Adaptor $19
Shipping $29.65

Which is $577.65 or £367.50 ish given the current exchange rate. Then £60 on top of that for VAT if I get the DHL bill, which I think most people are getting, so that will be £430 approximately.

Generally when I buy things they come down in price or something else comes out better soon after (just my luck!) so wait until next week and Voda will probably release it for cheaper!

I just couldn't wait any longer :)

Not bad pricing there for imports. Had anybody had their DHL bill yet? How much?

I'd most likely just charge via USB as I'll be transferring stuff to/from the phone (i.e. music, software etc.).

I really like the look of the desktop dock you can order with the phone. Are they USB, or just mains? Gotta love the way you can set it up to start the alarm clock app when it's in the dock :D.

I assume the phone will work on all UK networks even though it was made for US?

I'm waiting for mine to turn up.... ordered the phone, charger and dock, which - after currency conversion - came to £412.12. That's before the DHL invoice turns up as well.

Not really bothered about how much I've paid for it, as I've gone from a 35 quid contract to a 15 quid one and will still save money over the life of the phone compared to the old contract.

Still no valid tracking number from Google + DHL though and it shipped on Wednesday. Grrr....

Update :- Damn had my DHL bill today (after personal experience and reading other forums etc, it seems to take about 3 weeks to arrive) and it was for £59. So £353 & £59 (can't remember pennies) it came to £412-3, without the AC adapter though.

Slightly off topic - i got the Over the Air Firmware update yesterday which added multitouch support (amongst other things) for the browser and gallery etc. :D

Nice, finally got my HD2 sale money today and brought the Nexus.

Does anyone know how the OTA updates fit in with custom roms i.e Cyanogen? Is it installed automatically in conjunction with the mod, or does it have to be patched into the rom by the developer.

I read something about the map location/navigation features not working in the UK? Is this true?

Also, is stuff like the keyboard all US? Can it be changed to UK?

Also, I assume all the applications on http://android.com/market/ work on the Nexus? Or are some incompatible due to newer software/
