Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9a/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

Is there anyway to take actual raw images on the pixel 9 ProXL ? - As awesome as GCAM is, a signifcant amount of processing is done. Are any 3rd party camera apps able to just dump the image taken and allow you to decide what fixes etc you want ?
I just I just wish they'd dial back the oversharpening.

A new app called zerocam is what I use sometimes.

Thanks I'll check out zerocam. Saving as jpg+raw does create a jpg and a dng file with gcam, however that dng has had massive amounts of destructive unrecoverable processing to the image done to it, and whilst it may be an attempt to make the image visually pleasing, It's not raw. Hopefully zerocam can solve that.

What makes you say the raw+jpeg captures process the raw dng file? The whole point of raw is to not post process the sensor raw data, which is what a dng is.

Here's an example to demonstrate that the dng is not processed or sharpened by the pixel camera (you refer to it as Gcam, so if you're using gcam which you installed on its own as it offers more options, then you have configured it wrong):

Capture:

The RAW imported into Lightroom and the shadow slider whacked all the way up:

The JPEG imported with the shadow bumped all the way up:

It's pretty clear which has post processing and compression vs which is the raw.

Thanks, I am using the integrated pixel camera app. It appears that lens distortion fix's are applied that shifts/stretches the image and is not conistent nor accurate, also vignetting reduction is applied that mess's with the lighting. & Possibly other thing going on. For sure the sharpen is not applied to the dng and the noise supression isnt there which is good.

Had the pixel watch 3 for about a month now and have been very impressed coming from the Pixel watch 1.

Brighter, faster and much better battery life. Charges faster and cooler.

Decided to take up the £150 off offer from Google for the Pixel watch 3, traded in my 1 against it.

Just like my phones I flick between Pixels and Samsung S series, I've had a few galaxy watches. Much prefer the user experience of the pixel watch though.

My girlfriend's just done that, with a trade in on her Pixel Watch 1.

An absolute bargain to be honest

Ah good to hear. I went for the 45mm one. Annoyingly I want a "stretch" band but that doesn't exist for the 45mm version only the "performance" band. If there was any quality alternatives I would consider it.

I see amazon has reduced the pixel watch 3 45mm to £250 also

My previous watch was a Samsung galaxy active 2 which was about 5 years old and died so should be an upgrade

Just to add...

Not saying the Pixel watch 1 was bad. On the contrary it's been good. Wear OS 5 update was a big one that made it faster and smoother.

And all the specs were at least adequate to good. The Watch 3 just takes everything up a notch or 2.

Ordered at 1722 yesterday, delivered 0830 this morning! Just updating and setting it up. Glad I went for the 45mm, that was my only grip about the original that it was too small, on my wrist anyway.

Aye mine came today too, maybe a little big on my wrist tbh but I did read the battery much better on 45mm

So the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on a pixel 9 Pro ( coming from an i phine 13 ) is Magsafe .

I have a device in my car i have a Auckly 15W agsafe charger , I literally just place the phine onto it (no plug)and it holds the phine securely in place and charges it- i literally don't have to plug the phone into anything.

Now I know you can get magsafe cases for a Pixel 9 Pro but do you think ig will charge on this ? It's effectively a 15W wireless magnetic charger ?

It's literally the best car gadget I've ever owned !

There's a post by me on here (sorry I have no idea how to easily find my posts in a thread) where I've had success with my Pixel 9 Pro Fold and a magnetic case, and a bedside magsafe charger. The only issue I've read about, and I assume this can apply to the non-Fold phones, is there are magnetic cases out there that don't have the magnets in the correct location for the coil.

So as long as you get a case where the reviews state the wireless charging works and it holds, it should be alright. You would hope cases from reputable brands have the magnets in the right area.

Ive got a mous ultra slim case which has magsafe.its not terribly strong the magnet but seems to work. Not sure if it'd work if it needs to be used as a satnav etc, but I haven't tried it.
