google - push email?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but push email seems really slow on android

Sometimes I start gmail on the phone and suddenly it brings in new emails, but it didn't notify me of anything.
I sent a test email (from my domain account to gmail) to see how quickly the phone would notify me and it seems to take ages.

I've checked my settings on the phone and have IMAP etc enabled on my gmail account but it just doesn't seem to work very quickly (if at all)

GMail has been acting slow for me in general (not just on the Desire for the last few days so it could be due to an underlying problem that Google are having rather than an issue with the phone ..

They're usually pretty fast for me, but I've just checked and there's still an email waiting for me from 4pm =/

This is just a recent thing imo

Yep ive noticed on my Desire that sometimes emails take awhile to get to me whereas with my BB its instant.

Seems to vary for me, if I'm sat at my computer (which notifies me on gmail messages) its 50/50 which one comes first, computer or phone.
