Google security location problem?

Hi all,

lastnight when I was doing a routine google account security check. I noticed that there was a login from another location (specifically from a city in a different country). At first I thought that my account had been compromised. So I did a fresh install on my machine. On a visit to my parents. I logged in on the computer there. I discovered that it was in fact this machine that was showing the location for another city on google. So I did a fresh install of windows 10. They previously had windows vista installed (no viruses etc). Now when I chech the location on google maps it displays the correct city. As does sites like whatsmyip.com .... But for some reason when I do a security check on my google account it still shows that I'm currently logging in from a different city?

Is this a bug? The problem appears to be only on this machine. I have checked the network adaptor properties etc.

thanks and I hope someone can shed some light on this problem.

If you didn't log off before the reinstall it could still think you're logged in. Just give it a few days and it will soon forget you.

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I was just a bit worried as it was another country altogether.

Do you use TOR or a VPN?

I once had a login from Vietnam (or somewhere) which got me a bit nervous until I remembered I'd been messing around with TOR recently.

And just in case you haven't already - enable 2-step verification!!
