Google to use AMD for AI, market value surge.

AMD CPUs are great for VM machines as well due to having all physical instead of logical cores (like i7s), while being far cheaper. But that slipped everyone by as well.

But is it easy to setup? That might be why it slipped everyone by but Nvidia of course also have physical cores
I use Virtual Box and see no way for example of using GPU cores rather than CPU cores...........?

I read something some years ago now about GPU's supplementing the CPU in everyday computing but that's never happened.....

As AMD shares are over $10 I hope some of the AMD fans and believers put their money down for some! One of best ways to support a company you believe in is to invest in them and you make a profit too if/when they start doing well again as AMD have.....

It's hit a bit early, I called USD$10 by Q1 2017. Nice to be wrong as I bought parcels at tree-fitty, 5.75 and 7.10 - I'm still over 100% return.

If Vega and Zen get up then on to $15 by Feb- March.

Not I. I bought an FX-8320/990FX setup with 32GB RAM specifically for the purpose of an ESXi homelab.

Nice.
Was tempted to pick some up around the $6 mark when they corrected down to that level. I've owned NVidia shares for years and when NVidia started pulling ahead I felt that would also have a positive impact for AMD too eventually. Often shares underperforming in a sector get dragged along for the ride before they can then perform in their own right too. As AMD are exposed to the many of the same good growth areas as NV, it was a bit of a no-brainer at least in the short term - still have a lot to do in the long term and but I do think they do have a good risk/reward ratio moving forward.

Yes, very, and those FX-83## do make excellent VM machine, i built one for a collage to divide up into 8 independent test servers, its excellent.

Thanks. Actually I misread what the previous poster said - thought they were saying AMD GPU's could be used for VM's hence my responses asking if it was easy :D.

SPECSAVERSSS!!!!!!!!

Passed $12 now....

There was another discussion here, where linked investor advisers predicting at least 15-17 per share this year, based on the upcoming CPU & GPU sales predictions and also that the new Vega generation of GPUs are suitable to be used on data centres, something NV is doing for some time now.
Also stating that datacentres is the most lucrative market compared to selling GPUs to end consumers.

God dammit I actually was going to get these at $10 in a few days but I'm waiting for a tax form to reach the states to sell off my Halliburton stock. I figured off the oil and gas wagon and onto the computing wagon.
Hopefully these will drop a little for me.

Stay to Oil and Gas if you have the money in US stock market.

Especially Mid Western Oil companies ;)

Yea it is in the US. These HAL shares are up nearly double now but I don't know if it's got the legs to go much further. Think AMD are good for maybe 15/20 a share pretty soon imo.
