Google! Your worst enemy!

50% of which are probably on Yahoo Answers, which is one of the most painful sites to read on the internet. I've never seen any forum type interface with so much bad/lazy/ill-informed/misleading/throwaway/useless/annoying advice.

Worse still is "UK" Yahoo answers. A UK person asks a question on UK matters and gets a load of answers from americans on american matters, probably in dollars.

I was 100% behind Google until they started censoring Google porn sea....I mean image search.

maybe your in the wrong job if you need to 'Google' everything that you do in it

Maybe but sometimes it's quicker and sensible to find solutions that you know already work then adapt them to your needs rather than trying to fix it from scratch every time. Working from first principles is good on occasion but if it's what you do all the time then you're not benefitting from the experience of others.

There is however a distinct difference between using it as an occasional shortcut and that being your only way of solving problems. I'd admit to using Google sometimes at work to find out about Excel functions and formulas - having a problem set in a real context can be a lot more useful than only using the help function that is supplied.

Nice assumption. The Linux thing wasn't for my job, it was for my own VPS...

The other thing was; however it's a "hidden" command so not something I could just pick up from a manual (and I couldn't get a straight answer from support). I usually Google the more obscure stuff for work when I can't find it anywhere else or when my colleagues aren't sure either. ;)

The problem is that as mentioned above, it returns a lot of wrong answers so it's a risky business sometimes. It's sometimes useful to see what experiences others have had via forums and the like with similar things though.
