I know you said you had an IDE optical drive..but i'm pretty sure this one will be a lot faster. This'll also overclock nicely if you want ;) With a cpu cooler that is...

Anyone help me with getting windows on the SATA drive.

I wasnt sure how to partition or format the SATA drive so I put Windows XP and left it formatting nd it must have continued after the format but there was a BSOD something about memory so I restarted and now I am getting NTLDR is missing and it wont boot from CD ???
 
When I turn the computer on it turns on then goes off then comes back on and boots.

Is this normal ??

Now I am getting a BSOD EVERY TIME I TRY TO PUT WINDOWS ON AAAHHHHHHHH

Is it a P35 Abit board? You need to update to the most recent bios to fix the rebooting problem but unless you have the pro the rebooting will still happen every time you dissconect the power or somthing. It will be fixed with the next bios probably. There were reasons as to why i said get the gigabyte lol.

Should have tried to find an asus board, never had a problem with them.

I am now getting these errors.

IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or page fault in non paged area

as soon as installation starts.

It is the £86 IP35 Board

Where would I get the bios update and how would I apply it.
 
I suggest you go straight to the motherbaord section. Lots of people that know a lot about motherboards. I know enough to say which is best to buy. Not dealt with that board so i dont know about your problems sorry.

Asus boards have the problem of stupid placing of the sata drives meaning that a long card blocks half of them. So a GTS or GTX or ULTRA is out of the question really i think.

You can always send the board back under the 7 day act thingy and get a differnt one like the gigabyte one. head off over the motherboard section and read through some others relating to your board while you wait.

I removed memory from slots 3&4 and it is starting to install and has gotten DAMNIT ERROR AGAIN WTF.

I am getting sick and tired of this.

I havent really had a prpblem with a computer like this before nad its starting to really worry me because I am building it for a mate.

Thanks for advice, have posted over there as well.

Well that 2GB I tried came up with the erros so I tried the 2 I first took out and it has gotten past theinitial copying stage and is 19m away from being installed so it looks like the other 2 memory sticks are faulty.

How do I go about returning the 2 I had in that kept giving me errors

I should have just got the 2x2GB Like I was origionally

Edit again, just got BSOD.

Whats the chances of returning all of this stuff ??? lol
