Hi all,

Got my first SSD after you fine fellows suggested it :D

Certainly feels fast (well, for SATA2 anyhow :)) so I downloaded HD Tune to see how it was doing...

Does this look about right?
I gave AS SSD (final score 670) and CrystalDisk a run too, they seem to show numbers around the right mark, but of course they don't plot graphs like HD Tune does.

As ever, thanks for the help.
Hope you're all having a great holidays :)

You were right! :)

Though I'm not sure why :D Is the larger block size 'more relevant' in some way?

I'm not after mega-performance (it's SATA2 for a start...) but I just wanted to check everything looked alright in the setup & performance was in the ball-park.

Does everything look right in that regard?

Thanks again! :)

That looks fine.

Version 2.55 doesn't seem to give "accurate" results.

The 8MB block size will give more "pleasing" results over the default 64kb block size.

Just enjoy the performance of your SSD. A lot of folk seem very concerned about the differences in performance of SSDs, and the performance of SSDs in their systems. The fact is that unless there is something very wrong, a decent SSD in a decent system will be very good (compared to a mechanical hard drive). Despite there being a large difference in benchmark results between an SSD in a SATA 2 and SATA 3 system, the real world experience is not so different.

Excellent, thanks :)

That's basically what I wanted to know - it feels loads better than my old 2 HHDs so just 'give it a check' to make sure it's not faulty in some way.

That's great, cheers for the help! :)

I did yeah.
Just seemed like a hassle to image the drive I was using, plus I was changing the bios to AHCI and I'd seen references to that being a problem if windows wasn't installed with it on...
