Last night I got caught speeding by an officer with a speedgun, instant on the spot fine and 3 points.

Now I'm required to take my licence and insurance to police station but I can't find the paper counterpart, anyone know what I should do?

Also, this is my first offence and i've had my licence over 2years so will I be able to do the speed awareness course? The officer didn't mention it when talking to him :(

Thanks

Speed awareness ocurse depends on speed and which county you were caught in. If it wasn't offered then I doubt you will be, but I have no idea on procedures when caught by an officer.

As for license how long have you got to produce? Phone up the dvla and for a little extra they can send you one out next day, say you have lost both parts though. If this isn't quick enough, take what you have to police station and explain the situation. I think it was next day, it was very fast though, was a few years ago now.

You need to get the counterpart as you hand it in to have the points added.

As said above you need to get the expedited service from DVLA at extra cost!

With bank holidays you might not get it in time, phone dvla up now, iirc lines are open till late. See what they say.

If you can guess I had exactly the same problem, but got a renewal before I had to send my cheque and license off, I didn't have a producer though.

Edit 0300 7906801 open till 7 get it sorted today.

Go on, how fast? :p

47 in a 30,before people yell child killer ill post a pic of the road later, it's a ridiculous limit and I always thought it was a 40,plus it was past midnight :(

Oh well, fair cop and all that even if they did manage to slip the road deaths argument in there while talking to me -. -

Too fast for the course to be honest.

Call the DVLA and get an estimate on delivery then call the police station they want you to go to and explain the situation. About as much as you can do really.

I've already got the ticket, says £60 and 3 points, surely that's all ill get if the copper has already stated it on the ticket?

Yeah I guess so, you did okay there. It would seem that he used his common sense (a bit) rather than just saying "over 50% over the speed limit you child killer we'll make an example of you".

Also isn't the fact that it says that you're getting points and a fine an answer as to whether you are likely to be offered a course or not?

I've not produced twice now, both times I got a letter many moons later saying they have looked into it and are not going ahead with anything, it's all digital, I'm sure they sideways glance non producers and single out anyone with no digital record of insurance etc.

You should have course produce, the above is just my experience.

Yes this seems correct, but I'd imagine it depends on which force.

I have done this myself - completely forgot about a producer about 7 months back, my reminder came in the form of a similar letter saying they would take no action.

Opps! :o
