Hay all.

Was doing normal google seach last night then my pc restarted by it self, I though it was a random crash maybe my gpu crashed or something.

But now if I go on google and seach I will get redirected to other random spam sites.

The virus is using ping.exe ( TCP/IP ping command) to do it I think as that is in my tast manager and it never was before.

I have used Malwarebytes and avg but both of them cannot find and stop it.

Anyone had this sucker before ?

Thanks for any help.

I've never had it but clear your cache, cookies and all temporary internet files using CCleaner. Then do a system restore to the most recent you can, I doubt this virus/ malware or whatever is clever enough to restore itself...

Thanks all.

I messed up I think as I ran avast antivirus and it must have removed some of my system files and I could not boot or anything so I had to reinstall windows :(

I had my stuff I wanted to keep anyways on another drive as backup so I lost nothing but my time to reinstall lol :(

I need a good third party firewall I think now so anyone know of a good one for gaming and not a system hog.

Thanks.

I always like AVG virus scanner, its system defender is quick, a pain in the a** when i know its not a virus but a keygen etc, but its very quick and has never let me down!

I wouldn't spend a penny on a new AV or firewall. MSE + Windows firewall is perfectly fine or you can check the AV sticky at the top of the forum for other recommendations. A better investment would be time spent in updating Flash/PDF reader/Quicktime etc.
