Hi,
So I do Android development in my spare time, and I'm trying to come up with ideas for great apps to create, however I'm coming up with nothing! So, OcUK, any inspiration?

A battery drain app. Sounds odd, but it's good practice to recharge your battery from ~15% to keep its memory rather than from 40%. Usually I reach every night with 30-40% and just have to stick it on charge from then. I'd love an app that sucks the battery to get it down in a few minutes - ie turns everything (GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi) on and off constantly, screen on full, etc.

I want to be able to control my soon to arrive Vega using my soon to arrive Desire HD, so that I can plug the Vega into a TV using the hdmi output, and then tell it to play a film/browse iplayer using the Desire.

An OcUK app in the way that the XDA one would be good. Not sure whether you'd need to change anything with vBulletin though.

Other than that, a decent agenda widget that is simple and minimalistic, but allows for customization on how many event feeds etc to show :)

2 apps based on the same premise.

Both similar to Instant Buttons but one for Simpson quotes and the other for Arrested Development quotes
:D!

i had an idea for an app that i'd love to say but can't bring my self to as i think it's a fantastic idea and would hate for it to go and someone else take all the benefit. maybe one day i'll get it made if someone else doesn't think of it first

i'd like to see a decent call recorder though

another app (which imo is only an ok idea) i'd like is one that allows me to build a survey sheet to use on site visits, e.g. i can put label as how many bedrooms, then i get the option of input field, drop down option etc, and then what the drop down options are, then at the end it calculates total. and even better it would then allow me to print to a local printer such as one in the car, or customers printer, or email customer the quote. you can probably have a excel file or simply use a website to make the survey sheet but i'd like to be able to make them on the phone and have it as an app if possible. this would then work great on the tablet devices coming up.

Er... no.

Full charge cycles are far worse for these batteries than "top up" charges. Lithium-ion batteries have no memory effect!

Im sure there's a gap in the market for a decent android based Carpc frontend, people seem to be using tablets in their dashboard more and more nowadays.

A trolling app. It detects what forum and sub forum you're in then automatically produces a post about a topic to wind up the forum users. For example

OCUK - Graphics card forum - ATI drivers are rubbish
OCUK - Mobile phone forum - 10mins to decide android/Iphone rubbish
Mumsnet - Why working mums are hurting their children

This could save mankind millions of hours that could be spent doing other things.

Really... the memory effect that doesnt exist in Li-ion based batteries? Good luck with that.

Urban myth #1865.

Front runner for me tbh :D

An OcUK app.

Seems like a nice idea, tapatalk is the obvious solution, but I seem to remember reading that OcUK isn't prepared to install any vbulletin mods, hmm...nice ideas so far, looking into a few of them tonight to see how feasible they are!
