So, I got a call today from "Dynamics IT" about an IT Engineer role, I applied for quite a while ago.

So I agree and such for an interview tomorrow at 2pm.

Once I received the confirmation email though at the bottom it says the following:

To confirm your Interview with Dynamics IT Solutions

Friday 31st August 2012 @ 2pm

Please find attached our 90 second overview of Dynamics IT Services, Please have a read through this before attending your interview.

On arrival, ask for Sonia at the reception.

*Prior to you starting to support our client and end users, you will need to be Microsoft certified to verify your skills and knowledge. A refundable Exam Fee of £250 will be required to be paid towards your certification if you are successful in your interview.
“Dynamics employees are qualified to at least the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) level. MCITP certified employees are experts with the skills necessary to manage and support the bespoke IT solutions we design with Microsoft Server 2008.

Thoughts?

I think that's completely acceptable. If you're not qualified and bluff it through the interview, you still shouldn't have the job.

What do you want our thoughts on ? They want you to be Microsoft Certified which is pretty standard, if not a basic requirement nowadays in IT...

and £250 is the basic fee...

Basically they are saying that, should you pass the exam, they will refund the £250. Fail it and they won't... At least that is how I read it.

My thoughts on this situation are if you don't have £250, you're pretty much ******.

I'd run a mile to be honest, they are another one of these "pay us some money and we'll give you training with a job at the end of it" companies and are generally seen as being a bit of a scam.

Personally I'd avoid any recruitment/job that asks for money up front.

My thoughts too.

Also the fact it just says MCITP would ring some alarm bells, MCITP at what level? There are many, even when talking just about server 2008 there are 2 to choose from.

Ah, you think it might be a scam.

I thought that was obvious and you were looking for something *else* wrong with it.

:(

I'm new to the I.T qualifications game :)

Thanks though for the feedback.
