Hi all,

Finally got around to getting myself an SSD, and Im going to use it as a boot drive (fresh install of W8.1) and run a few games from it (i.e. Some of the longer loading Steam titles and BF4).

I am wondering if it is possible to carry on using the programs I currently have installed on my 500GB Barracuda (with W7 installed on that drive) without reinstalling them? I suppose what I am asking is if it is possible to remove W7 from that drive but still have and use the programs that are on the same drive.

On a similar note, is there a way of getting Origin and Steam games onto the SSD without re-downloading?

Apologies if this is a bit of a silly question, software has never been my strongpoint :D

Thanks guys,
Cookeh

You can copy steam and origin over then reinstall them into the same dir, steam works like this I think origin does also. Some programs you can just copy over and create shortcut in your start menu some will have to be reinstalled, its probably easier to just reinstall them all.

Steam is easy, just copy the folder where you want it and double click on the steam exe and it will sort its self out. With Origin I just install it then set the game folder location in the settings start the game downloading then pause it, close Origin and delete the game folder it created and copy the game over from the previous install folder then restart Origin and it completes the install without downloading. It might work like steam but I have not tried?
