ok had issues with 16gb in my system, works fine on 8gb. i did memtest all sticks before but now im getting errors.

left it running for 4 hours, the 1st pair passed all the tests

oddly this errored pair work fine on their own, its just when i have 16gb ?

you need more dram voltage or cpu imc voltage or both, the more ram you have the more voltage youll need, untill it runs error free

what board is it? and current imc or cpu vtt or vccio and dram voltage? that pair passes though doesnt it if its just 8gb installed?

oh and what model or ram?

Corsair 650D Case
Corsair TX 650w V2 PSU
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68
Intel 2600k i7 @ 4.4ghz
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler
Corsair XMS3 16GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz ( 4 x 4GB)
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
2 x 1TB Weston Digital
Benq XL2420T 24" TRUE 120Hz 3D Vision 2.0 Widescreen LED Monitor
Windows 7 Pro - 64 Bit

yeah the first pair pass, the second pair give me red bits on the screen shot above.

im running on what the memory states i should

9-9-9-24

however even if up take off my overclock, run the memory on auto, i bluescreen with 16gb. but either 8gb work :(

try with one or two clicks more cpu vtt from stock 1.05v,you can use upto 1.2v but you should only need one or two clicks more, idk if that rams rated at 1.5v or 1.55v

again you can safely use upto 1.5750v(intel spec) dram voltage, you can try that and maybe push to 1.63v dram just for testing purposes,if its still throwing errors with 16gb idk what it can be,pretty certain its not enough dram or cpu vtt

personally ive ran at 1.63v dram voltage for months n its been fine with 16gb,now i have 8gb i only need 1.55v dram voltage

From what I understand, memory is binned based on how far it can be clocked. It's not uncommon for some sticks to barely meet stability requirements and need a voltage boost above the advertised setting.

surely this is my issue?

the first 2 sticks give me nice blue error free. the two pictured above give me the red bits :D

when i add all 4 sticks i get bluescreens and crashes.

RMA?

it cant be ram because they are error free when testing 8gb at a time, soon as you put all 16gb in you get errors, errors are down to not enough cpu vtt voltage or dram voltage

even if its set to rated 1.5v or 1.55v it can still need more,i would test with more dram voltage with 16gb installed,if it still errors add one click more, keep going untill theres no errors, use upto 1.6v

can also try one or two clicks more cpu vtt

no sorry, i get that error when i test pair two. i cant even boot with 16gb without instant bluescreen

im a bit sleepy and have not explained myself well.

set 1 is error free - pc runs fine
set 2 gives the above screenshot and red errors - not tested long enough to know if windows is stable

set 1 & 2, instant bluescreen or windows errors

ok you have two pairs of 8gb kits, when you install the one kit (8gb) no errors, you unplug them and put in the other 8gb kit you get errors?

haha its ok,well thats easy you need to rma that one 8gb kit of ram for another set, keep the good kit that passes

the one kit is faulty if its not passing memtest and its crashing

yeah i just started a thread in ocuk support, i purchased in Jan 2012. not sure if ocuk would deal with it or its corsair after this amount of time.
