Guy came behind me and smashed me off my bike just outside my house I was on my way home from work.

Luckily the neighbour across his camera has caught it all.

Had to go the hospital with my injuries was numb all down my right leg and can't put any weight down on my foot, elbow popped a bit and neck shoulders all painfull. Got all checked out and had to have a CT scan too.

Home now and stiffening up I guess tomorrow I will be sore.

this morning still numb down whole right side with pains in top back and neck and shoulders plus a bit of head impact and arms.
so sore and stiff, still very shaky and head feels like confusion or concussion.

bike is totally ruined too. :(

Glad to hear you are OK(ish). Did you have a helmet on and did the driver stop to help you?

What other visibility aids do you have on your bike? Not trying to blame you for this at all but drivers in this country are ******* awful and pay about 10% of the required attention to the road. I've had people turn across me when I am 6'2" in a bright orange jersey and I'm pretty sure they just didn't notice me.

Since then I have got a front light that I use 100% of the time which flashes and gets peoples attention and I've got one of the garmin varia lights/radars at the back which flashes and flashes faster when a car comes up behind you fast. Since these two additions I feel like drivers do see me much better and give me more room.

Hope you feel better soon and I hope there are consequences for the driver.

Don't share it as a: you'll need it if you prosecute and b: I'd only delete it if there is swearing.

edit: I hope you recover well dude.

Very lucky with no helmet. A helmet saved my life as a kid, so it pains me to see people not wearing one.

His family sound like a disgrace. Good incentive to prosecute.

If you are getting back on the bike once you have recovered get yourself a helmet and some decent lights even if you only ever ride during daylight. Catches drivers eyes which is 70% of the game IMO.

Also, prosecute the ***** who hit you. It takes a special kind of scum to knock someone off their bike and hurt them and then hurl abuse at them.

Yeah you really need to report it as a hit and run... Especially if you have video evidence.
Have you checked your local police website? Most have a 'report a crime' form you can go through and upload video evidence in the process.

maybe call the police rather than a computer forum.

(hope you're ok though).
He's already said he phoned the police in post #5.

Wow man you are so lucky with no helmet.

Even though you're in pain, you've dodged a bullet there. I'd definitely prosecute though, after how the offender behaved. I bet your going to need a while off work to recover too?

If your on your bike quite often look to invest in some decent gear though, 100% worth it. We have a guy at work that's been knocked off twice. First time he had no video evidence and his whole right side of his body, face, arm, leg were just a huge scab by the time he'd came back to work, looked like someone had pushed him onto a grinder. Point is he ended up buying a front facing cam thats sits on his handle bars and rear for his helmet. I think you can buy dual for the helmet now though. Either way that and some decent lights is what you need.

You can be as safe as you want on the road but you can't do much for some of the terrible drivers out there but try to draw attention you are around.

Hope you recover well.

Definitely this. An old mate of mine when we were probably about 10 just rode straight out of a T-junction without stopping and unfortunately clipped a car. Luckily he was wearing a helmet or he probably wouldn't have been here today.

My helmet literally cracked and had loads of stones stuck in it. We always figured that would have been my head otherwise. It doesn’t take much of a head injury to kill a person.
