OK, questions for you:
- How much?
- How well does it interface with your TV?
- How well does is play normal DVDs when compared to standard DVD player?
norm said:Precisely why is it so bulky and why the need for the exhaust fan at the back. HD-DVD isn't that different from DVD at all, just a few changes in components and different spec laser.
Heck Microsoft are able to put a HD-DVD player into a tiny plastic case, and Toshiba mean to say they can't?

The player is connected to a 4 in 1 vivanco hdmi switch box which is connected to my tvs hdcp dvi input i have had no issues so far.
The toshiba hd-xa1 will only play region 1/0 dvds and will also upscale them to 720p/1080i over hdmi and is said to better most top rated upscaling dvd players and i can vouch for that.
I plan on buying a new 37"1080i/p lcd tv in the next few months.

Have you had any problems at all?
Rumours have it, the players are Region 1 only for DVDs, but multi-region for HD-DVDs, as the European HD-DVDs will be the same NTSC format (720p or 1080i).
