Got my degree marks today

you could say that about every univeristy - it's generally reflective of society.

True! I wasn't bashing it. One of my best friends is at Imperial and it's a nice place - I've sat in on a lecture! Obviously I never considered going there as I'm doing Ancient History, but if I'd wanted to do Physics or something I'd have applied.

Wow didn't expect my thread to become so negative, pretty pointless arguing going on in here, it's an internet forum so why correct his grammar it's not an exam paper, if it's readable then read it...

Lets just get back on topic. Congrats to the OP :)

Thankyou

Exactly the same. I worked out i got 58.5% overall for my Biomedical Science degree

Congratulations still man, drink on me.

now who's putting people down? I’ve already apologised for my very first post, which i have already admitted was a bit harsh - i then gone on to explain. in all fairness it was done with tongue in cheek. i've stated virtually in every post since about what i and many in academia think of the current degree classification system being outdated and not reflective of the different standards across the higher educational institutions - clearly a 2.1 from Cambridge is not the same as 2.1 a Metropolitan type University (to then being labellel as an elitist snob for pointing this out is illogical, you're letting emotion get in the way of the facts) - employers already weigh different university against each other - Universities are themselves looking at introducing something like this. i don't belittle other people achievements; indeed it is an achievement to complete a degree with all the financial pressures students find themselves in nowadays!

they are clearly missing the point. just leave it be mrn.

Imperial generally considered to be the best of the London Universities and you didn't go to that (what did you get in your A levels? you turn to answer some personal questions), there's obviously no correlation between that and you general downer on Imperial.

No I didn't go to Imperial, I thought that was evident? But I did go to two of the best ranked universities in the world. UCL is number 7 in the world, just behind Imperial......yet you said it was rubbish?:D

Imperial is excellent academically in the fields it specialises in but i'd say LSE is a better university for social sciences and UCL is a better overall university in terms of a great mixed environment as well as excellent academics. If you enjoy being a Herbert and just wanted to get your head down into the books, I don't understand why you came to London when you could have gone to Oxbridge?

I got AAB, not really a personal question is it? You seem to be confusing my dislike for Imperial as some kind of bitterness (I got accepted into Imperial remember)......I would quite like to attend Cambridge at some point, just Imperial does not appeal to me at all because of all the disadvantages i've pointed out before.

I think you need to stop harping on about why you think Imperial is the 'best', you are not a very good ambassador to your university and that's before mentioning the fact you don't know how to spell words properly or understand the difference between your and you're.

it's an internet forum so why correct his grammar it's not an exam paper, if it's readable then read it...

There is no excuse for poor spelling, you have to be pretty 'special' to spell words wrong especially past GCSE level. You may think 'it's only a forum' but the number of cover letters/CVs i've seen which get thrown straight into the bin because of poor spelling is unreal.

I gessin itz ok 2 typ lik dis wen u txt cos it saves bare txts n dont m8r cos itz only a txt init + typng mor may run down ur b8aterez?

What you have to remember is that despite the classification system being flawed and not completely transparent, employers will take this into account so there is nothing to worry about. An employer is not going to treat a 2.1 from Birmingham the same as 2.1 from Warwick/Imperial etc.

so immature, you just don't get it. m8 i doubt you'd been able to do a first degree at imperial anyway A* etc. is the entry requirements for most degrees (and competition is fierce) - AAB wouldn't cut it the only way you'll get it to Cambridge/Imperial/Oxford is through the back door - a postgraduate degree - more chance of getting in. it'll be nice for you when you finally grow up and actually do something with your life! and i didn't say UCL was rubbish, your views are irrational and highly illogical, when have I said Imperial is the best i've been *harping* on about degree system classification, if i can't spell you can't read!

You can't get an A* at A-level dumbass:p I've done lots with my life thanks and have great times ahead of me:) Hopefully I won't be a lonely man at 34 who mocks people on the Internet.

You can't get an A* at a-level currently. The A* grade is being introduced from 2010 onwards.

Also I know people who have got into physics at Imperial with AAB, the offer is AAA but sometimes they let you in if you are v.close to the offer and have it down as your first choice.

mocking you? no you let yourself down, I had nothing to do with it. current entry requirements are a*, that B you had wouldn't be good enough - deal with it... i deal with fact and logic you always resort to insults

I started uni in 2005, the highest grade you could get was an A, why are you talking about the current system? AAB would have been enough for Imperial. I've not made any insults, just observations:)
