Afternoon 8pack, I understand you're away on 'business' at the moment so no rush for a reply!

I finally managed to lay my hands on what I belive to be a psc kit, ripjaws X 1600 6-8-6 1.5v, whats a realistic primary set to be aiming for with these? And at what point should I be looking to give them better cooling? A quick play got me ddr2000 7-8-7 1.5v & I'll see what 1.75v does for them at the weekend.

Second kit I got my hands on is the team group 2666 c11 kit! Timings look like samsung ic's, though trfc is going nuts at auto, setting its self at 457, I tried 114 but got no boot, though I haven't adjusted sa or io yet....which leads me to my next question, whats the voltage limit on these? Still ~1.2v?

The chip you guys sent me is a monster, pushing above 5ghz without breaking a sweat :D

4770k & x-oc

Please, I keep drawing a blank with it, even 160 trfc with 1.7v dram, 1.18v io & 1.15 sa wouldn't post, perf at 467 is slower then the c11 1866 kit!!

This is the 'XMP' timings:

Its dire considering I had some cheap ripjaws at 2440 10-12-12-21-1T tRFC 81 on X79.

Hopefully I'm missing something, otherwise its going back.

ignore the speed i have it manually set for 2400, you may want to start with more volts for this as its C10 say 1.75v and if its stable work it down, io, sa etc should be ok around 1.15v
this is the 2666 2x4 c10 1.65v profile out of bios, this works fine with my 2600 c10 sticks.
the main 1st, 2nd and 3rd's are set but there rest are on auto, thought i'd post what they are though as various boards will set them differently.
Hope it helps paul ;)

Cheers! Will give them a try later, it also appears tweaking preset options (turbo & extreme) do absolutely nothing either.

Will give it until sunday to see some improvements in these sticks, if not dsr it is. Still completely confused by the mega high rfc on xmp, gives the impression these have been slackened and mhz pushed up to sound more appealing then they actually perform.

F3 I think? I'll flip the switch and flash X2 later (had completely forgotten about X2). And retry the psc kit. The bios has a 2666 psc tight preset, that asking a little too much of the kit?

Whats your take on the team group 2666 kit that won't budge from a high trfc? Granted I do need to push sa and ioa/iod higher first, the only tweak it's been successful in so far is up to 1T

The 2666mhz Kit is MFR Trefi has to be high with MFR. They should do great mhz go up that way.

That profile is Dino's PSC on LN2 profile as far as I know. I dont use em though I do my own settings. 2666 C6 or 7 is defo LN2. The best will do C8 though.

Ahhhh, just done some reading up on hynix mfr, interesting, basically it sacrifices timings in order to hit massive speeds? To what voltage do they scale? Would seem going by a post a few months back on the bot that mfr can also be quite rare!

Np I'll stay away from the preset, dont want to fry the psc I've spent the last 4 months trying to find!

Looks like I'll have a fun weekend ahead of me :D
Thanks so far Ian, awesome as always sir :)

They scale to about 1.9v on Air. I have those sticks in the office so will have a go with em tomorrow. You wont fry PSC man!!! I put 1.9v through mine on air and they are fine!!! 2.15+ LN2.

Christ on a bike, 1.9v!! This is going to be fun :D

Haven't ventured above 1.75v on DDR3 before!

IMC dependant, is DDR3000 C12 a realistic aim for the MFR kit?

While I remember too, io digi & analog, scale both at the same time?

You still in SFO?

I nabbed some PSC off ebay about 3 months ago for 8Packs competition.

This stuff to be precise

http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Radioactive/996958.aspx

Good to see what you're achieving on them as my Phenom II isn't great at pushing memory. Looks like they'll be kept when I upgrade and used for some benching

Cheers bud, I'll get cracking tomorrow/saturday and report back!

@Frozennova, was looking at similar kits at the same time, narrowly missed out one some C6 PI's around that point too! Get a move to Ivy(e)/Haswell to get the best out of them!

Major lack of funds at the moment as I'm only working part time, although if things pan out okay over the next few weeks I could be going from ~£6k a year to £20k, if so it'll be pay off some debt and upgrade.

Best I managed out of that Mushkin was 1744mhz at 7-8-7-24 1.65v. This chip doesn't like memory frequencies any higher than that, and the beta bios I have to use to get the RAM to run even at stock speed/timings means I can't give the ram any more volts. If only Phenom II had a better IMC

That's still not bad for a p2, or amd chips in general! All in good time mate, keep an eye on the mm!

8pack, just so I understand this correctly...x2 disables memory training, am I right in thinking that this means the system will attempt to force boot to windows regardless of stability? So I dont have to sit through 30 seconds of the training failing before I can get back to the bios?

May not need to bother mate, this kit is going back for sure now...

Got the X02 bios up and running (sooo many memory options!!) started turning up the heat on the TG's, was just about booting into windows at ~2800 C12, then I hear a clanging sound, look down to see one side of the heatspreader has fallen off! Seriously!!

That is how it came out of my rig, in 2 parts, I had to kill the power instantly as the heatspreader is metal, and was threatening to fall on to something valuable!

Not happy at all, how can a 3 day old spreader just fall apart?

Won't be getting them replaced like for like, care to recommend me something else? Preferably not Team Group.

Right, MFR's are back in the box now the red mist has cleared and I figure out what to do with them.

PSC time!!

X2 bios, DRAM 1.85v (haven't tried lower/higher yet!) SA 1.25v, IO(A/D) 1.25v.

Started with the 'TeamAU GSkill PSC 2400-2600 TIGHT' profile:

psc2400c8.jpg

Decided to stop being a little girl about the heatsink falling off, put it back on and back clocking them today, managed this so far, DRAM 1.8v, SA/IOA/IOD all stock :D

2933C12.jpg

Though even when bumping all voltgages, as soon as I got from 100.00 x 29.33 to 100.01 x 29.33 system instantly decides it doesn't want to boot past splash?

Perf is shocking though, still may cut my losses and send them back.
