got my psc and some tg2666....tuning!

YOu would get much better performance from them if you where not stuck on a 3900 uncore.
Stick your vring voltage @1.250 and bump that uncore @4.2-4.3.

That was a premature screeny to see of they were posting at that speed, had uncore at 45, ring at 1.27v, a good 10 seconds slower (spi) then 2400 c8.

May not need to bother mate, this kit is going back for sure now...

Got the X02 bios up and running (sooo many memory options!!) started turning up the heat on the TG's, was just about booting into windows at ~2800 C12, then I hear a clanging sound, look down to see one side of the heatspreader has fallen off! Seriously!!

That is how it came out of my rig, in 2 parts, I had to kill the power instantly as the heatspreader is metal, and was threatening to fall on to something valuable!

Not happy at all, how can a 3 day old spreader just fall apart?

Won't be getting them replaced like for like, care to recommend me something else? Preferably not Team Group.

They dont need heatspreaders at all. But yeah that is not good enough. Team Group memory I have used is great to be honest. Samsung and Hynix working well.

Did you try 7-11-7 on the PSC??

Yep, was a no go, at least for now anyhow, 1.9v dram, 1.25v SA/IOA/IOD, 4.5ghz uncore, 5.1ghz core, wouldn't shift below 8-12-8, unless I'm missing something else?

I'll have to get XP on another SSD for this, my windows 8 install is completely bloated and it doesn't help it trying to cycle recovery after every second failed post.

I'll get the MFR's back and grab some of the 2600 C10 dimms (samsung?).

Edit: whats power draw likely to be at with the above settings? Ropey dual rail hx1000, which essentially gives the core components a mere 500w, which will be less considring how old the thing is.

Righty, those team group dimms are back with you guys for refund...care to make a recommendation on my next memory purchase before the prices go ape? :D

Decent Samsung is few and far between now at this price bracket. 2600 Team 10-12-12 are great Samsung but you pay for it. Hynix BFR is EOL along time since. hmmmmmmm for less than a hundred quid your struggling for high mhz and tight timings unless you can stretch higher.

I have not tested either of those. I presume 2400 10-12-12 may well be Samsung and possibly worth a look.

2666 11-11-11 Not tested that set either. A good Samsung kit will do like C9 2666 no problem. Thats really what you want for Air.

Cheers Ian, I'll have a better look tonight at whats what.

I have sourced out uk stock of tridentx 2400 c10, same calibre as the avexir kit or higher binned? As I read a while back gskill & corsair usually get first pick.

Whaaaa!! When did you guys get gskill in stock????

Its not listed under the usual memory subs only under gskill.

This changes everything :D

I literally spent an hour last night looking for uk stock of those very dimms and all along they were right under my nose!

Anything mega special from their new kits?

Good man :D

Gskill finally back at a recognised retailer!

Was speaking to a friend last night about the 2400 c10 tridentx's...he turned around and said he had a spare set I could buy off him, oh the irony.

So should have them tomorrow or monday :D

Are those 7-8-7 & 9-11-9 kits psc too?

Yeah. PSC!!!

I use them on X79 and Z87 on cold. My sets LN2 both do C6 2600 or 2700 C7.

The GSKILL Trident C10 2400 I just tried now on air, GB OC X02 2600 9-12-12-21 1T tight subs. So decent result.
