Got myself an XBox 360 Controller for PC, spec me some games

Tempted by Sega Rally, I assume it's an updated version from the Arcade machines?

So is FIFA08 better than PES08? I've also been told PES was the better game?

Yeah its is cool if you are into pure arcade style game you can just pick up and play, moves at a fair wack as well with a decent spec rig.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, Gears of War and Test Drive Unlimited of the top of my head. Just noticed that it's the wireless version so you may not get the rumbling on these games though. I have the wired version and it rumbles superbly!

Have seen others reporting TDU working (ie rumble support) with the xbox 360 pad but can never manage it myself. What settings/drivers are you using.

Colin McRae DiRT works a treat with the xbox pad btw.

I use Vista x64 Ultimate. I installed the default drivers off the CD then added my gamepad. Once that was done I updated the software via pressing the middle green X thing selecting the down arrow and then choosing update.

Worked a treat after this.

PES games are much nicer on controller.
I found sega rally revo also far better with a controller.

As for other games, I dunno I prefer mouse and kb, sometimes like to drive around with pad in GTA: SA, but generally speaking, except for driving and footy, kb + mouse is nicer.

But in sega a pad is a MASSIVE improvement I went from being owned by ai's to always being in the lead when playing wth ai's.

PES 2008 (Offline, works perfectly, Online with the latest patch its pretty good now)
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Lost Planet
Gears of War

All properly setup and ready to use the 360 controller from the get go :).

I still have a few problems with PES offline. Basically I find the control system horrid as it doesn't select the players properly. The turning circle on the players is that off a small elephant as well. I understand it's trying to be realistic but it makes it so that the game doesn't flow properly.

HL2EP2 also works straight out of the box with the wireless controller.

Jericho + Blacksite also both work perfectly with it (without any input lag) and both are much better with the pad than kb+mouse as they were designed for this controller method.

If you find any game which does not support gamepads then just download:

http://www.xpadder.com/download.html

Is the site you want as their freeware software lets you configure this gamepad for any PC game by translating the keyboard commands to the pad. They also have profiles on there which have been created for many older games.

I have tried many older PC games this way as you can save profiles per game and also configure the pad movement exactly to your liking as it even lets you change the motion of the thumbpads to suit your style.

You cannot beat gaming on a 40" HDTV with a wireless gamepad + high end PC. Mouse + KB are more accurate but you can tweak the gamepad to come very close to this and sometimes it is better as you also have the additional d-pad controls very close to your thumbpads and these can be configured for anything (with xpadder).

Wtf! I bought a wired one because someone told me the wireless one doesn't work on the PC?!

The rumble doesn't work on the wireless one as of yet.

Not sure if theres any patches or anything that do enable it but as far as I'm aware the wired is the only one that fully works.
