The same to all the people who go on about how loud it is. BIG DEAL! It makes absolute ZERO difference to the experience you get with the 360.

This makes a massive difference to me. Consoles aren't meant to be noisy. And I can't have my 5.1 system turned up full belt late at night.

If there was one single thing I could improve on this console, it would be the noise. Sod bigger hard drives and HDMI and the rest of the crap. In my opinion the console should never have got to release with this much noise.

Oops, bit of a rant there! :)

Now we are going to get this stupid **** for months. Exactly how long away is this new xbox. HDMI big frikin deal you dont even know it will give a better picture than VGA or Component for your own tastes.

It wont be any quieter despite all the bull that people seem to think it will. The dvd will still turn at 100 miles an hour.

I'd rather have months of gaming now instead of waiting for something that may or may not be any different. The hard drive is a non issue. That was bound to happen it happens with just about every PC in stores. You can't cry about it. If you need the extra buy one, if not so what.

Well my panel only accepts 1080P over HDMI, and 730p/1080i over component & vga. I don't have a Xbox 360, or plan to buy one. Same reason my next DVD (HD-DVD/Blu Ray combo) player will have HDMI. But if I were I would want HDMI output as it'll have a purer signal.

was going to buy one this weekend then i changed my mind then i thought i shall go get one tommorow or today as it's gone 12 but this noise issue what keeps coming up is really starting to put me off , all so some post's on how reliable it is , the last thing i want is to chase about over a kids console.

hehe by the way im a 43 year old kid, it's for me :D

What? Your 360 isn't gonna keep the house awake at night. Only time I play my 360 is at night before bed and I dont have my volume up loud since my parents are in the room next door. It just isn't an issue.

HDMI doesn't offer anything thats currently not available on the current model.
It does for me...I only have one component input on my TV,,,where i have two HDMI inputs..(one spare)and i want the wii in the component input..

So being able to have the xbox360 in the spare HDMI input would save me having to try and swap cables round everytime i want to change from one console to the other..

As already said above, get a MS VGA cable for it, the quality is much much better than component on that screen as the component connections are rubbish on the dell monitors. I swapped to vga from component on my 2407 and the difference is massive, also a big difference that you can now run it at 1920x1080 since the component on the screen doesn't support 1080p

It is an issue when I can hear it when I don't want to hear it.

Seriously, when I have the 5.1 turned down to an acceptable level for the missus to sleep, I can hear this thing whirring away. And it is very loud. When I can hear it over the sound of a game, it ruins the whole experience.

It may not bother some people, but to me it is an issue. :)

Can I plug my xbox 360 into my pc and go on live with it that way? I've got 2 network cards in the pc. Or do I need to plug 360 direct into a router/modem?

yes you can plug it into your PC, its what I do. Thats how you use windows media connect to share music/video/pictures too. Obviously your PC will need to be on though.

Just because they're lucky with your xbox doesn't mean there hasen't been masses of units being sent back.

It's a well known fault, with high failure rate. The same for PSX 1 CD pickup problem. Or Hiper PSU's. Or Maxtors.
