Hi guys,

Basically ever since I built my rig its never really been running as well as I expected it to with its spec. Games have always been giving average or low framerates, and it is annoying me hugely that I have spent so much and getting such crappy performance.

My spec is:

  • i7 d0 @ 3.3 w/ dummy OC
  • EVGA x58 tri sli MOBO
  • 6gb OCZ reaper 1866Mhz
  • 2x Asus 4890s Xfired

Im currently using my tv and a res of 1920x1080 as I have to sell off my 24" nec soon as im skint :(

When I first built it, 3dm 06 gave me a score of around 14000 which I thought was prety crappy?

Anyway since then after various tests I got a score of 21k which I thought was more like it. Since then though performance has been crappy and im back to getting scores of around 13k.

So today I decided to try a bit of trouble shooting trying the different cards in different slots and combos, the results were not great.

  • XFIRE MIDDLE & TOP 13869
  • card A MIDDLE 10489
  • CARD B MIDDLE 10469
  • CARD B TOP 7457
  • CARD A TOP 7576

I still dont really understand 3dm 06, should I be adjusting the settings or not? I have tried both and still getting crappy scores.

Could this be a problem with my motherboard, and are there any apps I can use to test my components?

All of my drivers are up to date.

If I can provide any more info/run any tests that might help diagnose please let me know!

Thank you for reading and any help would be greatly appreciated! I am desperate to get this sorted.

first off 3DMARK don't like SLI/crossfire.

its very CPU intenive and yes that score **** for some reason, is all your chipset/GPU drivers installed ?

Alll drivers are installed. Im getting so wound up im going to do a fresh install with the newest built of w7 and see what happens

Actually 3Dmark should show big gains from SLI/Crossfire.

I think the problem is youre running Win7 as ive seen a few people comment that 3dmark is playing up.

Are you running 3dm06 or vantage? Standard settings? Checked for any forced AA/AF?

The 21k score seems pretty normal for a default 3dm06 run. Is your CPU overclocked or stock as it could well bottleneck the GPUs at stock.

well I have crossfire,
A. it don't pick it up in the sys info
B. hardly any differnce with crossfire on or off o.O

I got like 22k at at 3dmark stock

Okay I will test a couple of games later, I've just finished installing a fresh windows.

Also this is a bit of a retarded question, but which file/s should I be downloading here, just the first one yes? http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-64bit

Edit - Reinstalling with w7 7232 seems to have done the trick. Now scored 22145 :D , time to test arma 2 again!
