Upgraded my N95 black 8bg to the iPhone. I am very pleased with it so far.

Anyone else got one? What apps do you rec for it. I am trying not to buy any so free ones are a must..also using songs purchased from itunes only to be used as ringtones.... i hate that.

Off topic, but what kind of deal did you get with O2? I'm due an upgrade in about 2 weeks time.

I've made the same switch - very happy so far. Personally the main apps I've found useful are Free RSS, Showtimes (for local cinema listings), and TVGuide. I've set up a bookmark thing for the National Rail PDA website to help with train times. Worth looking at the Apple sub forums (inc. the hardware one, which I think is where the main apps discussion is for some reason) for more thoughts.

RE: The ringtones can only be purchased songs from itunes - all you need to do (according to my girlfriend) is change the filename extension and then you can use any mp3.

Not quite.

You need to open iTunes, go to any song you want to make into a ringtone, right-click it and "get info". Go to the "options" tab, and make sure that the "stop time" is no longer than 40 seconds.

Now go back to the library screen, and right-click the song again. Click on "Create AAC version". Now find the newly made AAC version in your iTunes Music folder (usually c:\documents and settings\[username]\my documents\my music\iTunes...). Rename the file from <songname>.m4a to <songname>.m4r. Now double click it so that iTunes opens the file, it will add it to the ringtones folder.

Now remove the duplicate you created before from your main library, job done.

Ha, I got an extremely cut down version of that! Surprised she got it working! :p

Made the same upgrade myself on launch day and loving it more and more each day :)

Now just need to find a good, slimline case that doesn't hide the white back!

if the discolourment due to the overheating of the iphone is anything to go by, you'd want to hide the 'white' back :)

Got to love this. For an iPhone, it is a feature. For anything else, it is a lazy UI or a terrible OS.
