The Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition. And also the patch which you have been sadly waiting for for so long. Over the past weeks and months we have not rested but instead have been working full steam on masses of improvements for the addon of Gothic 3.

Question: Is this an official patch?
Answer: Yes, it totally is. It will be part of the soon to be sold Enhanced Edition of Forsaken Gods, it's being built by the Community Patch Team, produced by our newly formed game development company Mad Vulture Games and it will be published by JoWooD.
Question: So you are getting paid?
Answer: Yes we do! JoWooD and Mad Vulture Games have come to a mutual agreement, and we'll get our piece of the cake.
Question: That means the patch must be HUGE?
Answer: Well, apart from bugfixes, the reworked combat system from Gothic 3 1.74, new balancing, improved graphics, revised ingame models, dozens of adjustments in quests and dialogs, improvements to world design as well as stability and performance improvements there are only few adjustments
Question: When is the patch going to be release or when will the Enhanced Edition hit the shelves?
Answer: When it's done! But we are planning on a release in Q4 2010.
My interest is peaking////

I bought the game during one of Steam sales but it seemed damn buggy and rather horrid to play, hopefully this may change that.

I got such a huge back log of games to play but want to check this out.

I've got quite a few Germans rpgs on my play list, they seem to offer something fresh and a little different at times, think I got Risen, Divinity 2, replay The Witcher for save carry to the second. Also there is Drakensang River of Time which is coming out for us early next year sometime, loved the first one The Dark eye.

But on topic, I take it this is the patch/mod people say is a must with Gothic 3?, guess I'll notepad the name to remember.

yeah the original gothic 3 with the community patch was really good, ah i thought this was an enchanced edition of the original game? Or is it an expansion that requires the original?

Forsaken Gods is Gothic III's stand-alone expansion which was released in 2008 and was absolutely terrible. This will enhance the expansion in community patch style.

JoWood has a history of re-releasing games that the community has fixed. JoWood announced it was materially insolvent earlier this month, so it remains to be seen if this ever sees the light of day.

We're a quite stingy with new information, but don't want to keep good news for us. Today it's about the well known micro stuttering.

What is this micro stuttering?
Many people reported that their game stops from time to time for about 1 second. That's annoying and destroys the atmosphere.

Which bloody software deamon is causing those?
In general this stuttering is related to the world streaming. While playing the game and walking through the world, several pieces are dynamically loaded in such as NPCs or the environment. Also graphic effects such as textures or materials, in this case just called "Shaders", are being compiled.

The longer I play, the less stuttering there is!
That's true! Shaders are reused on different object. So if a shader has been compiled once, it does not need to be compiled again for that certain object but is available in the memory and might be accessed, which saves computing time and stuttering. Unfortunately, those shaders will only last for the current session.

Now the good part!
With the new patch all compiled shaders will be stored locally on your computer, which means they are available anytime. The result is a heavy and noticable decrease of micro stuttering!

There are some preconditions or better some pieces of info you should know of:
  • Of course every shader still needs to be compiled once. In case a shader which is needed is not yet compiled (e.g. when you start the game the first time) you will still notice the stuttering once as the compiled shader needs to be created.
  • If shaders are already compiled they may now be directly accessed and not cause stuttering - that's also the case after a game restart!
  • From time to time you will still notice some stuttering since there are other objects which are loaded in as stated above.
  • Changing any of the graphic settings in the game options will need new shaders to be compiled, rendering those useless which have already been compiled. That means that you will again experience some stuttering as these shaders will now need to be recompiled instead of simply accessed.

Prepared with this new information there's only one thing left: patiently wait for the final version.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Why the f' didn't they do this for Gothic 3

but it looks crap and clunky, i did give it a try but i failed :/

also the devs are supposed to make the game better not the community even tho the community is the only reason this game is still going
strong x1
